I do: twitter.com/pauley

Twitter is, from their FAQ, "a community of friends and strangers from around the world sending updates about moments in their lives." People post a short message to the service, which is then sent to everyone who's signed up to receive your messages. Messages can be sent and received by SMS text, IM, the Twitter web site, or other third party programs. Some people think of it as "an IM away message without an IM account." Some people use it as a mini-blog (as your tweets -- yes, that's what they're called -- are saved on the Twitter web page, just like mine are at the link above).

Some more info from Time magazine: Why Everyone's Talking About Twitter

So, how 'bout it... do you Twitter?

pauley, is twitter paying you to promote them or something? :)

I could use the money, but no.  I just like the service, and am looking to see who else among my friends either 1) already has it or 2) is interested in it.  No paid plugs, no scams, no gimmicks, no hidden agendas -- what you see is what you get. :)

... to "hell, no."

this whole overconnectedness thing has got way out of control. is it such a bad thing to not have absolutely everyone in the world know exactly where you are and what you're doing all the time?

Another "no" chiming in.

I find it to be... one of the most narcissistic, self-indulgent things I've ever come across.

Nope, not at all.  I do it because I find it fun to share, and I was interested in finding out if any of my friends were using it that I hadn't connected with yet, but by no means is anyone required to participate, and I don't pass judgement on folks who aren't interested -- that's absolutely your prerogative. :)

I think the reason people feel the need to do this is that they don't have flesh and blood people to share life with and so seek to replace that with e-connections which are really just a washed out reality that I am seeking to escape in favor of solidity. :)
