I wish there was a word for...
Should I be an obnoxious pendant and say that this topic should have been called "I wish there were a word for..?
No I won't, that would be obnoxious. There should be a word for words there should be a word for.
The issue is not with tense, but with mood. (And, of course, "were" is not a future tense form.) Since the point is that these words don't actually exist, using the indicative mood ("was") is inappropriate - the subjunctive ("were") is required instead.

In Japanese, I don't think there's a word for lost. At least, when I lost my friend's ball, he said "It became nothing".
Not "Sam Lost My Ball!!!" or "IT WENT ON THE ROOF AND IT'S LOST FOREVER!!" It became nothing. nakunatta. just sayin' You must first create an account to post.
