Spider-Man's new costume

So a coworker and I were just discussing Spider-Man's new costume:



For those of you not up to date, Spidey got new powers (basically enhanced original powers, night vision and some other crap, and now he can shoot poison stingers), and with them, Tony Stark designed a new armored costume for him. It has GPS, communications, bulletproofing, and three spider-legs that come out of it (not shown in photo). Here's how the discussion went down:

Me: See, I'm torn on the costume. It's good to see an update from the red and blue suit. I mean, that is one of the best costumes ever, but it is pretty dated. On the other hand, this one is a bit ugly.

Coworker: It just looks like a recolorization of the black costume. And the colors are baaad. That's like turning the Hulk bright blue.

Me: Don't make me smurfy. You wouldn't like me when I'm smurfy.

When Fruvous played Spider Man the first time I saw them they totally won me over.

Spider-Man's costume is timeless. If it gets changed, it's changed right back. Black costume, Spider-Clone, ext. Just temperary.

Isn't that just a differently-colored version of the Spiderman 2099 costume?

Hmm. And I think my memory of Spiderman 2099 just killed any Life!Points[TM] I might have earned ;-)

I dunno, man...the black costume stayed for quite a while. He wore it pretty much nonstop from Secret Wars in 1984 to the debut of Venom in 1988. I think IronSpiderMan might stick around for a while now. The suit's abilities are really cool.
