Exes have names? Do Pees Cues, and Vees? Do all their names begin with X? Xerxes, Xena, Xenophon, and uh, not a lot of X names.
technically no. It says "same name" not "same first name" so I think it only excludes people with exactly the same name. If your ex was Jenny Marie Jones you could still date someone named Jenny Maria Jones or Jenny Mary Jones.

Does the question count if you've never been in a dating relationship?

Previously dated a Paul for over 6 years. Currently am with another Paul for about 4 years now. Things get very confusing when trying to talk about both of them at the same time.
it is confusing for us too. I just came up with teh solution. Have them both change their names to Pete. Then they can be Pete and Repeat.
psychologically, it can be. Especially if you were abused in that relationship. It may be emotionally difficult, if some dude name Biff treated you like absolute crud, to face being reminded of that daily by dating another Biff. Is it logical? Not really...but when has the politics of painful memories ever been logical? :)

Not only am i currently dating someone with the same (first) name of an ex, but their phone numbers are the same except for ONE DIGIT. I found that out the hard way when i accidently phoned up ex-Adam tying to reach current Adam. Thus ensued massive confusion and embarrassment. To further perpetuate the coincidence, it turned out that the ex had moved back to his parents house THAT DAY after breaking up with his live-in girlfriend, the girl he had broken my heart over 2 years before. I still can't get over the sheer weirdness of it all!

My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years dated nothing but Jennifers before me. That kinda weirded ME out; I don't know how he took it.

If everyone I dated had the same name it would have made my dating life happier as I've called someone I was dating by an ex's name a stupid amount of times..
What I want to know is, would you date someone with the same name as your sibling? I've turned down a couple of people because it creeped me out that they had the same name as one of my brothers. Paul v1.0 and I had a friend Aimee whose brother dated (and I think married?) a girl with the same name as her. Even with the same odd spelling. So now they have the same name, I think. And actually I think my friend Natalia's brother married another Natalia.
My father had a sister Beatrice which is also my mother's name. His sister died when she was 30, before my parents were married. My father inherited many of her books and I'd find them in the house with her name in them and thougth they were my mother's.
One of my friend's father and maternal grandfather are both named Len. I guess it's not THAT weird to marry someone with the same name as your dad since most people don't use their dads' first names while they're growing up. Like, my dad is Dad, not Mike, so dating a guy named Mike wouldn't seem odd.
I called my dad dad but I also knew him as Bob (mostly because he'd tune me out and I'd say "dad dad dad dad dad dad" etc and he wouldn't turn around until I went "Bob!". :) ) . But I don't think it'd be a huge issue if I dated a guy named Bob since my dad spelled it backwards.
It's amazing how for a certain stretch of time the parents are conditioned to notice every little peep from the kid and pick 'em out of a crowd....but eventually they learn to tune the rugrats out. :)
The Brother is a copycat. That's where I draw the line.
My parent's had friends Eileen and Joe who we called Big Joe. Joe's father was named Joe. Eileen and Big Joe had a son, they named Joe who we called Little Joe. Little Joe married a girl named Eileen. Eileen's father's name was Joe. I am glad I was never at a one of their family gatherings. You must first create an account to post.
