Poll: Who Do You Like More: EFO or the Nields?

I like EFO much more than the Nields but EFO doesn't rock my world.

Reverse ditto. I don't like EFO, and I'm not a huge Nields fan, but I'd pick the Nields over EFO any day.

I really like the Nields. A tougher choice would have been between The Nields and Dar.

Nope, Dar by a huge margin. I think I'd pick Dar over everyone mentioned in this forum so far. I said "Think" just in case someone slipped in Richard Thompson and I didn't notice. I know I like her far more than anyone else I remember being mentioned.

why EFO and the Nields? we should have polls for every possible combination.

apes vs. people!

It depends on the kind of ape:

Gibbons, siamongs, and bonobos beat people.
People beat gorillas [both mountain and lowland] and chimpanzees.
It is an exact tie between orangutans and people.

I don't think it's that arbitrary given the dynamics of this community and past debates and opinions expressed.

it is not arbitrary. As Andrea said, it's based on observations of the dynamics of this community. It just seems that there tends to be a preference for one group over the other for people here and some debate about the quality of these two groups. So in that respect, this is a poll that is specific to FHDC and not completely baseless when I wrote it up.

Granted, the preference doesn't have to be strong and I admit the first two poll choices don't necessarily fit for most people, but I was trying to come up with something light and amusing. You can just omit this whimsy in your voting and just consider the first two choices to be Eddie From Ohio and Nerissa & Katryna respectively.

Which is exactly what I did.

So are there any other natural pairings out there? I agree this one was totally natural but I'm not sure if there are any others that work as well with this group.

Peter Mulvey and Jeffrey Foucault are always linked to me but I don't know how significant that is to this community.

i dunno. rarely do you hear a "dude, i cant stand peter mulvey, with his deep and lulling voice and complex fingerpicking" around here. :D

not so much can be said about the two bands currently in question.

Yeah, I can see not being a huge mulvey fan, perhaps... but not actively finding him offensive to the senses, like... i dunno..... the nields. :D

but only if it's the full band on stage. I'm not too wild about Nerissa & Katryna by themselves. One needs the 3 Daves to make them complete. I like EFO a bit but not wild about them.

Katryna's voice beats Julie's by far. And I like watching her expression.

While I like them both, I like the Nields better. I didn't like them at first, but then I saw them live and just fell in love with watching them perform. Anything I hadn't liked about their singing became just fine. And I got to blow bubbles for Katryna's little girl at FRFF05. That rocked. (Of course, there was also the drunken sing-along with the EFO guys in attendance . . . hmmm)
