12/6/97 for me. the lowest highest point show. first fruhead met? Vika.
It's weird I was just last night thinking of making a poll of what year people's first show fell in, if applicable. But today is my 8 year anniversary with the company I work for. Which was shortly before I got into Fruvous...that's why the two are linked in my head.

I have no idea when my first show was, sometime in 96 or 97. I can't believe so many people remember the date.
Very easy to figure out the date of your first Fru-show from the show archives on Fruvous.com. Mine was 4/21/2000 at Irving Plaza.
But that does imply you know the venue and approximate date if they played that venue more than once.

6/4/98 - Lafayette Sq. Buffalo. Some Buffalonian guy I met online drove to Cleveland to pick me up (& return me) for the show. I had a copy of a copy of Bargainville from one of my friend's roommates from the year before, so I jumped at the chance to seeFruvous live. I still can't believe that I saw nothing wrong with driving 4 hours each way with an almost complete stranger. The interweb was a different place back then, I guess. First Fruheads I met: Wild Bill & Starfox... at Frumiles weekend in August.

Last show February 17 2001 --Toronto, ON
If you read the show review, you can.
I'll never forget the fact they opened that show with Substitute.

Sometime in the fall of 1994. The show archive doesn't have it, but I remember I won the tickets on a small-station radio show run by two brothers that played fun bands, and I won the tickets on my birthday that year... they played at Schubas. Matter of fact that show would have taken place around these days too. Hmm. Neato Andy for starting this topic!
Wow...Buffalo '97. I remember that one. Broke up with my girlfriend the night before. She was at the show with me. Thanks to Jian's intro I spent all of Fly crying my eyes out. Ahh...the memories. Wait..that was Buffalo '96. Oh well... First show was 9/6/96 at Oberlin. Saw two more shows within two weeks. Twas all down hill from there....

11/20/99 at the 9:30. i went with tim train. i was really scared of meeting fruheads in person. yes. stuff.
And I don't think we met until april 1998 in Fre-DOOOONNNN-Yaaaaa!!
Even though I have pictures of you at FCI. :)
When I went to my first show I didn't even know there were Fruheads. I didn't realize there was a community till I got a computer. There were just people I knew from shows.

haha...see, with all of you saying you were late?
better late than never. :)
But you may not be never forever! As long as they are alive there is hope.
True. Or I could see them individually, which isn't the same, but it's more realistic.

new years day 1999, The Bottom Line, New York NY, early show, double bill with Dan Bern.
So you say, I don't remember you there :-)
Didn't we figure out that I was at the next table from you? I was stage Mike.
I was there too with Princess Dana ... first row of tables, stage Murray. I swear as soon as Dan Bern saw a little kid in the front he cursed even more than usual ... not that we cared :) And it was SO COLD waiting outside that night!!!!!
First show: June 24, 1999, The Vauit in Baltimore (I think that was the show where a recent review had complained about "gratuitous cursing" so when they did "Kick In The Ass" Murray kept singing "A fucking kick in the ass" ... or maybe he sang it like that all the time). Last show (sniff): June 1, 2000, Herndon. I have about three rolls of film from that one ... Hard to believe that all those shows we saw fell within a span of less than ONE YEAR. Really hard to believe it ...
Didn't he start off with Tiger Woods? I seem to remember that the first words out of his mouth were, "I've got big balls."

YES! And it might have been my imagination but I swear he was looking right at us when he sang it ... do you remember him saying something after that about how he shouldn't swear because there were kids in the audience and then dropped an F bomb or was that another show with another performer???
Like I said, though, it never fazed us one way or another. Crap, I work with baseball players so I am not only inured to all language but have probably dropped more F bombs in our house than she will ever hear outside of it ... Plus, she's 15 now. Nothing shocks her.
Yes, he did. And I remember after he finished the song he said "Welcome to the kid's show."
I think I remember being seated pretty much right in front of the drum set.
i never have to do my own calculations, because sheryl's first show was my first show! though we didn't know it 'til later.
That' what I thought. One table stage murray of me.
Been there, done that, bought the T Shirt. Literally....
Gordon,
I still have the ticket in the copy of wood I bought that night. I kinda cheeted.
Joy- new picture!

well, my first show was in fall of 1999
BUT. i bought the cassette of Bargainville when it came out in '93. update: according to fruvous.com, in 1995 they were vancouver twice, at least one of those was in a licensed est. '96, not at all, '97 not at all, '98 once (i almost went to that one, but some family stuff came up)

I totally remember when I first met the band. How I miss them so. I am from Buffalo, NY and went on a weekend trip with a friend of mine to Philly to visit her sister. We were looking for something to do at night and we found a band named Moxy Fruvous playing in town. We went and my friend and I totally fell in love! Since then, I never missed a concert of theirs when they came to Buffalo. I even got my mom to listen to them and I took her to one of their concerts! I got married in Oct of '02 and our first dance song was "I will hold on". I just joined the message board to share my story and I hope to check back every now and then to see if there are any rumors of a getting back together concert!! I don't even really know what happened to the group. Anyone willing to briefly share the painful story??? Best wishes all- K

The "Lowest Highest Point" show. My second show was the following night at the Iron Horse including the multilingual "Girl From Ipanema".
58 shows later... my last was Falconridge 7/00. I was all confused for a minute how your count could be more than mine but I forgot the stretch when my dad was sick!

Yeah, I also went to a couple of shows with Eric that you didn't.. like the House of Blues.
We saw them there once. They ended up headlining (which turned out to be the middle position of 3 bands) but there had been some confuion as to who was to be the headliner. The other band that ended up opening had thought that THEY were the headliner. Ah live on the road. :)
