Annoying Co-Workers and Classmates

   Discussion: Annoying Co-Workers and Classmates
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 19 years, 11 months ago
I know there is a similar form but this one is more general. It is nice to have a place to share with the world how annoying the people we work or go to school with are. My officemate will simply not shut up. I was at my computer writing my update then reading the Times and he did not stop talking to me the entire time I'm doing this. He can see that I'm busy but it doesn't stop him. If I try and ignore him he'll say, "What do you think?" "Don't you agree?" etc.
Nik Chaikin Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I know somebodyjust like that. but what makes it worse is that all he ever talks about is Magic:the Gathering or Yu-gi-oh.
Annika Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Oh my god.. are you working with my b/f? Gah..
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

I don't go anywhere without headphones in my ears, Of course, I have them attached to music, but it's a great way to discourage people from talking to you. I am also a professional ignore-er. Even with headphones on, I can sometimes hear someone calling to me, but I ignore them until they really try to get my attention, and then I'll pay attention, acting like I hadn't heard them, then they get to feel stupid.

I find if I'm in a populated area without headphones, I'll just sit and listen to what everyone else is talking about instead of focusing on what I am trying to acomplish.

oh crap... I was supposed to make you another mix, wasn't I....

Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
ummm, yeah, duh! But if you want to be super cool, do it as an MP3 cd collection (you can fit more)
nate... Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
well, clearly this is your fault.

You have not bugged me enough.
:)

get on that!

Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I'm a professional eavesdropper. I even have a little secret sign to tell doug when I can't listen to him because the people at the table next to us are talking about something really juicy.
hkath Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
This reminds me, one of the most annoying things in my opinion is when some stranger walks right up to me out of a crowd and starts asking me questions even though I have gigantic headphones on. Like, can you not tell that I can't hear you? My headphones are huge DJ ones, very hard to miss. Grrr.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
That doesn't work with my officemate. He'll keep talking to me even when I have my headphones on. He also talks to me as I'm dialing the phone.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
He is doing it right now, please shoot me now!
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
why don't you address him regarding this?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I have to no avail. He really is a very nice person, just lonely and he can't control himself. I also owe him big time. When I was sick he took over my classes. Theoretically I should have paid him for that but he wouldn't accept any money.
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
You could always take Strong Bad's advice.

(I'm surprised no one brought this up yet.)
Nik Chaikin Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I use method 4, doesn't work. HE JUST KEEPS GOING! As soon as i get my zippo, the first card he starts yammering about is toast.*oh, yeah that is a good card can i see it?*
sheryls · 19 years, 11 months ago
one guy is going "another too-sami! another too-sami's gonna happen!"

"well, there's a lot of people on VACATION there right now!"

..you know, because the natives are worthless, their bad for living there, right?

sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
oh, my supervisor has a squeaky nose, and when he stands behind me, he just sits there and "squeeeeeeeek. squeeeeeeeeeeeek. squeeeeeeeeek." and it makes my temper rise with each squeak o.O
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
but is she a mouthbreather who is obsessed with canadian idol and has a freaky growth on her chest and thinks she's your best friend?
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Ooh. I had a legtwitcher in one class in an old building where the floor shook through the whole room because of her damn fidgeting!

Then there was the girl who I think had narcolepsy, and was a snorer, who sat next to me in Shakespeare.... Actually I don't really think she had narcolepsy, she just fell asleep in class a lot.

i hereby rename this thread the Lashon Harah thread.
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I always get confused... what's the difference between lashon harah and rechilut?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
What are you two talking about? Does my not knowing make me a bad Jew?
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
lashon harah is the hebrew word forgossip/talking behind someone's back, i'm not sure what the other one is :P
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
rabbi sandman used to go on and on about this stuff. I was fifteen and i think I was playing with my gameboy most of the time. woo, pokemon.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

for me it was the rabbi's wife, she taught hebrew part of the day;) she must've said the word so much it's ingrained in me. i was probably in5th grade.

sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
and that's funny that you had a rabbi called "Rabbi Sandman" because we had one named Rabbi Beanstalk :P
danced with Lazlo Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Lashon Harah is mostly about speaking derogatorily about an other. Rechilut, to my understanding, is telling one that an other said something bad about them.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Rechilut is a cool word then. In English it is a definition that is in search of a word.
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
really, english isn't a very good language for describing abstract concepts.
danced with Lazlo Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
it means "peddling" in Hebrew

dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
it seems like things here are too general & anonymous so far to really be lashon hara. i think it's more just venting than damaging someone else's good name or reputation.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
what if who your venting about doesnt have a good name or reputation? :P
caroline: tired. · 19 years, 11 months ago
One of my classmates, who shall remain nameless, is really annoying. Firstly, at a party I attended, she insisted she not use utensils. That's fine for some things, like pizza or toast, but we had (brace yourselves) spaghetti. Eww. *shudder*

And, she's just really annoying in a clingy sort of way other times. But I'm nice...I don't brush her off like so many others. So..yeah. my story.
Dan Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
whats her name?
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
it's quinn....you know her. :P
renita Back · 19 years, 10 months ago
i thought she was going to remain nameless ;)
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 10 months ago
well, she was. but then he asked. plus, there's no point, unless you happen to know the students of abington junior high...which, for all i know, you may. :)
Real-Accordion! Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Man. Spaghetti is so much better when you eat it with your hands. I'm not even kidding.
Mind you. I generally don't eat spaghetti. And I when I do, I generally just drag handfuls of noodles through the pot of sauce. Screw sitting down to eat.
... I don't really like spaghetti.
