Butch Ross Update

   Discussion: Butch Ross Update
Kate Leahy · 20 years ago

Hey all . . . coming out of the vortex to give you all an update on the inimitable Butch Ross. They might kill me for this, but I thought you'd all like to know that a Budgiedome favorite of years past is off the market. As of FRFF 2004 he is betrothed to the beautiful Christie Burns. Who he met at FRFF 1999. To which Christie and I traveled together. Her being among my very best friends from high school. Crazy.

Hope all are well . . .

Ok then...thanks for clearing that up...

well, a google search also pulls up this.

(But I also wasn't being a wiseass... I've heard the name around for years... but never anything more than... the name.)

you go to bed too early at falcon ridge. :D

(seriously. he's played upstairs every year since 2000, except this past summer. not terribly late, either -- between 1 and 2 am, or thereabouts. he also was on the new artist showcase one of those years.)

also, he and his band opened for Fruvous at the infamous Trocadero show in Philadelphia in Feb. 1999. that was kind of how a bunch of us became aware of him, although Mary Krause and Jason (I believe) knew him earlier.

lol!
Naw, I just don't go upstairs all that much... usually just on nights when someone I like (like russell) is going to be playing. :)

the first time i saw butch, he played like right after russell. in 2000.

"the day john gorka died" rocks.
nate... Back · 20 years ago
Really?
I must've been there, then.

Huh.. maybe I left after russell's set.

OH!
No, wait... I think 00 was the year I didn't go.

This is Butch Ross :) He's an (anti-) folk singer from Philly and a great story teller. The last time I saw him was at the BOT/FRFF '03 Sat at 4 or 5am so my memory's sort of failing me right now...
stealthlori Back · 20 years ago
my favorite song of his is "The Day John Gorka Died". :D
Phoenix Back · 20 years ago
Yup.

He totally cracked me up when I heard it for the first time. :D
stealthlori Back · 20 years ago
