TNG
nate... Back · 20 years ago
Yup.
Talcott Back · 20 years ago
Very much so.

DS9 too.

I didn't like what I'd seen of Enterprise, but I'd heard it'd gotten better. Alas, it doesn't matter since I can't get UPN on my tv anyways.
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years ago

And it's getting cancelled so it doubly doesn't matter. :)

Talcott Back · 20 years ago
True.
Maybe they'll go ahead and do a better series now.
(and a new tenth movie. I'm still trying to forget Star Trek X. I mean, how do you do that set up and not make it a Lore story? *goes to watch First Contact again*

I had heard that they were going to offer an explination for the non-bumpy Kingons in Enterprise. Did anyone around here catch that/mind sharing what it was?
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years ago
Somethign about how there was a disease and the cure was something that made them the non-bumpy kind. I dunno, I didn't watch, just read the recaplet on Televisionwithoutpity. :)
iPauley Back · 20 years ago
It's aired already, then? it's probably on my DVR then and I haven't watched it yet.

The Klingons were trying to engineer super klingons, one of the side effects was smooth foreheads.
Zach Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
The klingons were not bumpy in the original series, either. I remember seeing something about it on DS9. The Defiant accidentally traveled back in time and ended up at the station that was the scene of The Trouble With Tribbles episode. When they saw the non-bumpy klingons, everyone turned to Worf and he said something like, "It is a long story, and we do not like to talk about it."
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

Yes, I believe that was the origin of the whole deal...news was going around that Enterprise was finally going to explain that bit from DS9 in its story. Before DS9 it was chalked up to just different TV technologies and one of those things we'd just have to swallow. DS9 did that ep which kinda put into canon that there actually WAS a difference besides production values. So it's been an open question since then and Enterprise set out to give the "long story" to bring everything up to speed.

I may be wrong, but that's how I understood it. The Enterprise sstuff was to be a direct response to DS9/TOS instead of tangental.

stealthlori Back · 20 years ago
you mean someone else out there in the vast world liked DS9?

it's my favorite of the ST series by far, because it had murky complicated characters. and pa'a wraiths. i mean, who could not like pa'a wraiths?

i dig on that darkness, y0.
Talcott Back · 20 years ago
I'm still more of a TNG fan, but I think DS9 was really underrated.

And while I like watching Picard better, I'd rather be on a crew with Sisko.

I just wish the TNG/DS9 DVDs weren't a few thousand-per-disc.
Nik Chaikin Back · 20 years ago
I Like DS9 too.
Phoenix Back · 20 years ago
Yeah they are really expensive. Fortunately I can borrow TNG disks from a co-worker :)
dgodwin · 20 years ago
SG-1 and Atlantis are both shows I regularly watch. Thanks to Bit torrent and Sky One though, I've all ready have seen the whole season for both shows (and Battlestar Galatica, which Rocks!) I'm not sure if I'll like the upcoming changes to cast members in SG-1 though.

I liked TNG, but I never got into DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise. With Paramount not renewing Enterprise, it looks like the trek franchise will be on hiatus. Star Wars isn't what it used to be. I won't comment on the other choices.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years ago
Battlestar Galatica does rock! It has restored my faith that good Sci-Fi TV shows can still exist today. And it's been renewed for a second season! Yipee! (I would be sorely disappointed if they didn't after all that happened in the season finale).

Speaking of torrents...the first ep. of the new Dr. Who is up.
A.J. Back · 20 years ago
What new Dr. Who? And where?
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years ago
The New Doctor Who

and link to the torrent tracker. Scroll down a bit and look for "Doctor Who 27x01 Rose"
Phoenix · 20 years ago
Babylon 5, Dr Who and ST:TNG!

I would have said Star Wars, but the prequels have caused me so much anguish that I could not allow them the honor of being among my favorites.
lawrence · 20 years ago
despite the poor quality of the prequels and the 'special edition' DVDs, it's still a great story and series, and I never really got into any of the others (and I don't drink coffee, so it's definitely not Starbucks) so I guess Star Wars kind of won my vote by default.
ChrisChin is Getting Old · 20 years ago
Out of all the choices...definitely Star Trek. I was a big fan of both the TNG and TOS and DS9 to a lesser degree.

Though I have to say that I did like watching Star Search when Ed McMahon was hosting in the 80s. That was where I was introduced to Margaret Cho.
sheryls · 20 years ago
natives of southern ohio might say "Star Chili"

..but not me :P
Heartbreak sucks Back · 20 years ago
Psha! Gold Star ain't got nothin' on Skyline.
sheryls Back · 20 years ago
i agree! that's why i said "but not me" ;)
Heartbreak sucks Back · 20 years ago
Zach said as soon as I declared my love for Skyline, I was a true Cincinnatian. :)
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

its true.

but now you have to declare your love for king's island :D

Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
/me declares her love for king's island. Particularly the Beast.
Heartbreak sucks Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Never been, but I'm sure that will change over this summer, as Zacques will once again be sweltering out in the sun, cleaning up vomit, and representing the KI pride! *ducks*
Zach Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
:sigh:

Oh, how I love my summer job. At least it pays well. And I get in for free. And so do my friends sometimes.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

my sister and father both work there :) my sis is in group sales and my dad works in teh moneh room.

i do love the beast so ;) although, it's gotten a little rougher in recent years, and i think they put some rails w0t slow it down at parts, it makes it jerkier :/ teh suck.

i miss smurf soft-serve ice cream!i can no longer eat ice cream. but that stuff was teh bestest.

Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
Heeee! Flashing back to cute pics in photo album of my sis and I eating blue ice cream!
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 20 years ago
I haven't seen the prequels, but the three original movie still rock my socks off. Maybe when they do 7, 8 and 9 they can get it back on track.
Heartbreak sucks · 20 years ago
Professing my love for Natalie Portman and William Shatner doesn't really entitle me to fandom for either Star Wars or Star Trek (and I've never seen Stargate). Starbucks was not an option. So... judges? 4 STARS for TORI!
Bender · 20 years ago
my favourite starr is talcott.
caroline: tired. · 20 years ago
I don't like Star Wars. Or Star Trek. or any of the above. I especially don't like Starbucks. I share Jian's disdain for that coffee chain. (see below link. if you don't know what i'm talking about. which will probably be none of you. but oh well.)
http://jian.ca/writer/hmp1_wp.htm
No coffee-like drink is worth $3.50. Really. And I don't see any reason why it's better. Besides convenience. And...sameness. But their coffee is just as good as, or worse than, home coffee that i've had. Which isn't many, but hey. Edit- Oh my jeez. i just read over that article I linked y'all to, and i found another instance of vocabulary word usage. Second to last sentence- impunity. Sure, maybe it's pure coincidence. But I don't care. Even after fruvous, jian is still using my vocab words. heheh ;)
Bender Back · 20 years ago
but have you ever had the starbucks vanilla mints?

they are the sex, man.
caroline: tired. Back · 20 years ago
eh. no. i had altoids licorice flavored mints....they were teh blah.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years ago
eww...licorice. altoids ginger mints, on the other hand, are so good, if you like a strong ginger flavor, which I do.
caroline: tired. Back · 20 years ago
I like licorice, even black licorice. but those had a bad taste. i've seen ginger. dunno if i'd like them. i like the sour ones. rasperry..mm.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years ago
I'm not a big fan of Starbucks coffee. It tastes a bit too burnt and bitter or something that is just off. But Dunkin Donuts' Hazelnut is divine. *sigh* I miss drinking real coffee. (caffeine can have a major effect on my ability to sleep..hence I stay away from concentrated forms of it unless I really need it).
caroline: tired. Back · 20 years ago
mmm...dunkin donuts.
i got a coupon book from them. i got a latte for 99 cents. it was yummy. i also got a free iced coffe over the summer. it was also teh yum.
nate... Back · 20 years ago
Starbucks buys inferior beans and over-roasts them to try and mask that.
Apparently, it works for most people.

I still think their coffee is assy.

A.J. Back · 20 years ago
Nothing but nothing beats Timmy's coffee. It's perfect every single time and toujour frais! Long live Tim Horton's!
Bender Back · 19 years, 11 months ago
I always feel like such a poseur when I'm at Tim's and I don't know why. Still can't bring myself to order a double-double.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 11 months ago

from the store it tastes overburnt to me too.

their breakfast blend, bought in the packages and stored in my freezer, however, and brewed by me, totally rules.
