calling all hebrew-speakers! help! :)

Discussion: calling all hebrew-speakers! help! :)

My sisters need a good graphic of the hebrew words for "brother" and "sister."

with or without vowels, i don't know, but if you can find both that would be fantastic.

she said the only place she could find them was on a website called "how to read a hebrew tombstone."

these are for tattoos. why, i don't know but hey, they asked me to ask :D

help!

!! where did you find that? :D

wouldnt that second one be plural?

A little thing called the internet ;)

Another dictionary I looked at said "ach" and "achot" for brother & sister.
I'm flying blind as far as Hebrew is concerned... damn my secular upbringing!

well yeah that's how i'd pronounce it, but ot is a plural feminine ending. :P so it might be ach and acha, but i need a picture of acha. :P

no, in this case the singular is achot. just a quirky word. (the plural is achiot)

i always find it a bit weird when poeple get hebrew tattoos, as judaism forbids tattoos.

that said, israelis of my generation are some of the most-tattooed people i've ever encountered :)

even stranger is that MY SISTERS ARENT JEWISH. and neither are her brothers.

thanks everyone! i got a nice hebrew font and made a printout for my sister:

hope i got it right. i didn't know if she wanted vowels or not :P

for some reason, I'm reminded of a trick I learned in hebrew school from the cantor's daughter on how to remember which vav-with-a-dot is oo and which is oh:

if you get hit in the stomach, you go "oo", if you get hit in the head, you go "oh".

shh. tired and ill and posting nonsense.

I think the plural is "achayot."

Looks good to me.

i never did mix the two up, but we did always say, "he is she and who is he and me is who and dag(dog) is fish!"
Bender Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
we had it as sort of a dialogue:

"Who is he?"
"He is she!"
dirty life & times Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
that's what i said :D

me means who
who means he
he means she
