Gay Male Folk Singers

Last night I was talking to LORiabout our plans for a group marriage/ folk music kibbutz and realized we couldn't think of a single gay male folk singer to add to the group. We could think of plenty of lesbians. This seemed really strange to us. Can you think of any?

Nate Borofsky. Though I wouldn't necessarily put him totally into the folk genre but he's the only one that I could think of off the top of my head.

Then there are the male folk singers that I wish were gay...but that's another story.

Rufus Wainwright. Also not entirely folk, but still. Man, he's flambuoyant.

So not only is he a gay folk singer, but he floats as well? Man, is there anything he can't do?

He can't impress Bea Arthur. He's tried, apparently. He told her he thought of her as a surrogate grandmother and thanked her for The Golden Girls, which got him through some tough times. Her response was "I'm not your fucking grandmother."

And I'm not sure I'd consider Rufus W. to be "folk", but sure, he'd make a great kibbutz addition. I don't think we have to be too rigid in our definitions here -- heck, I wanted to bring in Michael Stipe after all. :D

Is he the member of the family we'd want though? All the rest are real folk singers. We can't have two family members, that would be incestuous.

I forgot Ashley is gay, it is hard think of him as being anything but brilliant and nuts.

I agree, he can visit but I don't think I'd want him there full time.
