Figured we might as well have one of these, too. Neal and I aren't camping this year, but we'll be spending plenty of time upstairs as usual, and also visiting downstairs/Camp Dar/wherever. la.

Oh...visit us at the slanty Camp Dar! You'd be most welcome and if you want you can practice for your set on Saturday at our very relaxed happy song circle.

here's a question: where exactly will we be this year? and please don't let the answer be "right on top of camp hell and the other scary frat boy townie types, way the hell at the edge of the campsite and far away from everyone else."

It just sorta gathers right after the mainstage set is done each night and on Wednesday night too (when it's not pouring like cats and dogs, as we don't have a nice little canopy). People introduce themselves, some people play covers, some people sing their own stuff, others are playing guitar in front of others for the first time, and we all just sit and listen, around a soft glow of whatever portable lantern is there at the moment. it just sorta goes on until people collapse and get tired...which means, it goes on all night.

Any preference where the dome should be? I will probably get to Hillsdale before Steve, so I can ask him for you that you'd like the dome in a different location.

what he said. You should really consider playing for usssss. ;-)

Dar campers are nice people and it often goes on into the wee hours... Hee. Last year I was so clever to set up my tent just some ft from the songcircle area ;->

i really liked it in past years when we were by the bot and tribes hill. i know steve is concerned about our music interfering with theirs and vice versa, but i don't see it as "interfering"--i think it's part of the beauty of the festival that so much music is always going on. and in my experience, they've both been good neighbors. my main concern is being closer to other people who are there for the *festival* (not just, "hey, our dads work on this farm so we get free tickets to hang out and drink and break shit all weekend"), and not being all the way over on the edge of the world.

that sounds so nice...i'm thinking we'll come by on wednesday and assault you all with my lame attempts at playing guitar, mwa ha ha.

I will definitely let Steve know that when I get there, and I'll also shoot off an e-mail asking where his preference for setting up is. Perhaps Lori will have some say in it as well, since she won't be camping for the same reasons you aren't.

i think we talked about it with lori when she was visiting, too but my memory could be blurry from all the ice cream.
Phoenix Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
wow. that's interesting. if I really want to erase something from my memory do you think that icecream works? w00t.
