Hey - I'm looking for a newbie friendly set of instructions for creating torrent files so I can share some tapes I have. Any experts or pointed advice? Thanks! The first thing you need to do is to transfer your tapes to the computer. To record the waves, in windows, I'd recommend the cool edit line. You can still find cool edit 96, which has a demo that is mostly functional. Once you have the wav. file, you need to track it. I'd strongly recommend using CDWAV, as it separates the wav files at sector boundaries (a good thing.) Then you need to convert the newly formed wav files of each track into either SHN or FLAC. For SHN, I'd recommend mkwACT. Then you need to create a txt file containing the important information of the shows. Put as much information as you have. Finally, you need to make the torrent file. I use "make torrent 2." Once you make the torrent, upload it to a tracker (bargainville.org, bt.etree.org, etc) and start seeding the show. http://www.etree.org has information about making the shn files and such http://www.filesoup.com/faq/index.php a faq about torrents http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47213 http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45776 Sharing the groove's "getting started" and "how to seed a show" posts. Enjoy!
