Who bothers, anymore? ;-)

I buy the majority of my music from the iTMS these days, though it's been waning recently as they've started to increase their prices. As far as actual discs go, though, definitely at shows.

Which is to say I haven't bought too many CDs recently :-/

I generally do a mix of everything. I buy from half.com, the artists themselves, or sometimes new cd stores. but lately i haven't been buying a lot of cd's. mostly caus i'm poor.

I buy them mostly online. I haven't purchased many cds lately-it's been either burned cds, mp3s, or online radio for me.

when i was last buying cd's on a regular basis, it was from the artists.

right now, i'm not buying very many at all. though there are a number of german cds i want very badly indeed before i go home.

Hard to figure out...close call between online or directly from the artist at shows. I've bought way too much from CD Baby lately, but I do tend to buy a fair number of my CDs at shows (particularly if you count FRFF as one big show...oy).

Online, used.
Amazon.com markeplace rules my world!

I only steal music from the major labels. From indies, I buy online 90% of the time and at shows the rest of the time.

So you buy studio-made CDs in a lossy compression format, but you use SHNs for live stuff taped from an online stream? ;-)

online for the most part - still working to be folkweb's and cdbaby's best European customer ;-) And amazon z-shops/marketplace.

Sometimes I even buy CDs online (in the U.S./Canada) that are available locally cuz it's cheaper...?!?!

When I'm in North America I purchase lots of CDs at shows/festivals - and when I'm in Boston (which usually happens once a year) I browse the used CD stores and Newbury comics.

at shows... or just via paypal....

For those who aren't local/don't play here/etc, I just buy online.

Hmm...now that you mention that...I think the last time I bought CDs was the day before I left Spain in February...

I think perhaps I voted wrong.
I also think I may need to go buy CDs. :)

i picked "directly from the artist," because that's what i try to do. when i can't do that, i try to go to independent music stores as much as possible. blah blah blah.

And occasionally the fourth as well, although I don't go to as many shows as a lot of people around here seem to. I really do prefer to buy CDs in a real store, but they often don't have what I want, or charge a lot more than it costs to order it through Amazon, so I probably end up buying most of my CDs online. I browse through used CDs quite a bit, but it's rare that there's anything among them that I want.

Yep. I'm on crack, Josh, you know that ;-)

Actually, if it's a release that I care enough about to think that I'm going to want the liner notes, etc, I'll actually hit a music store (if it's a non-touring artist). Same if it's something that I think I'll want to be listening to for the next twenty years. But those are few and far between; and my "immediate gratification" gene is pretty darn strong.

But yeah, you're right, that makes no sense. Ah well. I'm semi-large, I contain smatterings.

I tend to purchase music towards the end of the year as gifts for birthdays and the holidays. Much comes from eBay or half.com. From time to time, I'll pick up something from a used shop. Very rarely, I'll let the tall guy buy new at a show from the artist.

With over 1600 discs at home, buying new just isn't in the budget. I'm more of a secondary market kind of person anyway.
