I came across this today...it's the P-P-P-PowerBook! It's a write up about someone obviously trying to scam an ebay seller out ofhis PowerBook, and what the seller decided to send the scammerinstead...a hilarious, home-made P-P-P-PowerBook! I love the photos.

(mirror site, I don't believe the original one is hosting the whole thing at the moment)

Yes - this takes awhile to read, but is worth it :)

The guy's going to get busted, though..

Hilarious, but totally anti-climactic. What a disappointing ending. I was at least hoping for some sort of conclusion.
Yvonne Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, the guy definitely isn't a writer. I wanted to see the look on the scammer's face when he opened the parcel.

There's not a conclusion because this all just happened - there still may well be an interesting conclusion.

Exactly. the last email was dated a week ago or so. this is an on-going story.

Harumph. That's still not good enough for me. They shouldn't have posted the story until it was finished. :( I'm just not patient enough.

evidently not. :-P

Nyah. So there, b-day twin. : )

Ooooo. Never mind. Looks like it HAS been updated. Hee hee. The scammer tried to send him a virus. NOW it's getting interesting.

Josh Woodward Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
From what I can tell, I doubt it was deliberate. i'm guessing the scammer got a virus that spammed itself to his address book.

the sad thing is that vigilante justice doesn't tend to hold up in court. revenge is funny, but shipping the guy a 3-ring binder when he said he'd be shipping a powerbook is still fraud, even if the recipient was trying to scam him.

Since we're on the scammers-being-scammed topic, how about getting some revenge on Nigerian 419 scammers?

I collect all the Nigerian Scam email I get. I think it's kind of fascinating...
