Musical Mix Help

I wouldn't normally take a forum for this but I'm running low on time. My friend (and fellow fruhead) is turning 30 in a week and there's a big par-tay. She just informed us that there is a blue theme (her favorite colour and it is at the Blue Room of the Capital Club in Seattle)� I thought I should make her a music mix with 'blue' songs.

As I've said before, Fruheads are the best reference in the world. What can you suggest?

Where can I find that Sarah Harmer cut?� And is it the same one Elvis (and countless others, I know) recorded?

It's on her "Songs For Clem" CD...not sure if that's still available or not. It's a great album of her singing classic old songs. She recorded it on a porch and it's got a great feel to it.

anyway, yah--hard to find, she recorded it for her father, it's all songs he likes and then she decided to release it.

I think using using songs with blues in the title is a cheat. You can make a 100 CD mix of songs like that. It is an entire genre.

that's what "grep -v Blues" does.

grep -v is your friend. Almost as useful as grep -f :-)

I'd still have to say it's cheating to grep a catalog rather than come up with song titles out of the.. er, off the top of my head.

Speaking of which, allmusic.com offers several thousand artists' versions of songs with 'Blue' in the title, all of which are three-word or smaller titles (their search engine only returns the top fifty or so options)

I'll only list a couple, since I think the others have a pretty impressive list already.

Blue Monday - New Order

Blue Moon.� I know this is already on there, but since no one listed an artist, I'll list it as well.� The doo-wop version is by the Marcels.� Several others have their own versions.� The only other one that comes to mind is by Dave's True Story.

I'd have listed Blue Monday, except I'm not sure those words are even legible within the song. I figured if you're going to have a "blue theme" the songs should clearly have 'blue' in the lyrics no?
