One of my friends submitted an ad for the Bush in 30 Seconds contest; another friend stars in it.
Check it out at Dissent Check out the contest at bushin30seconds.org Thecontest is being sponsored by MoveOn.org. People were encouraged to submit 30-second ads about President Bush and/or his policies. People canrate the adsat bushin30seconds.org - the 15 finalists will be judged by a celebrity panel, including Michael Moore, Margaret Cho, Michael Stipe, Al Franken, and Russell Simmons. The winner will air during the State of the Union Address broadcast. The point? I think it's cool that friends of mineare participating in a project I think is an interesting way of using coveted ad time to express dissatisfaction with the current government. So I decided to share.
No, I understood the point of your post, I just did not find the ad that inventive. I got bored watching it. I mean, I agreed with the basic message (although share a vastly different ideology that MoveOn.org), but found the delivery lacking. Any type of ad should capture the person's attention and leaving them wanting more.
Think some of the teaser trailers for Star Wars or Lord of The Rings.
I think it was a pretty good ad. It skewers mindlessfollow-the-leader flag-waving-- as seen in other advertising and event-related messages, particularly on the cable news networks -- pretty well.
