Okay holiday season is coming.
this forum is to share recipes and ideas about what eggnog should be like.
for instance, the eggnog my uncle always made was a cooked eggnog, I've recently learned that many are left raw.
what do you think? eggnog, raw or cooked?
I've been looking up recipes because I'm going to be making it this year. and most call for rum (normal) and some call for grand marnier and one called for whiskey!
so. any tips? recipes? anything?

well, since you asked ;) Cooked Egg Nog 6 Eggs
hee. that looks good,
one thing I've discovered in the (seemingly) hundreds of recipes I looked at tonight, is that most of the recipes are 95% the same. *sigh* I've got one, somewhere saved in my favorites folder that called for 15 eggs, I think I may merge yours and that one as yours seems a bit richer. mmm I'm gonna need a lotta nog as the Christmas celebration is going to be for um. 13 people this year. all of us exchange students who aren't flying home and don't have family in europe are gathering at the home of our program director.
actualy, a wee bit of salt in sweet things is good, it helps bring out all the flavors.i watch food network a lot, so you guys are gonna feel the brunt of that in our many food forums.

I don't know from egg nog so I'll say how to make an egg cream
Fill a third of the glass with milk Add Fox's Ubet till the glass is half full Stir with a spoon Fill the remainder with seltzer preferrably under pressure Stir again Important note, there are no eggs in an egg cream. someday they'll find it...the duck egg connection...the noggers, allergics, and yoooou.
Is is a brand of chocolate syrup. You can use any brand in a pinch but U-Bet is the best.
Nononono!!! You add the seltzer BEFORE the Fox's! This is where there's skill involved... you have to add the pressurized seltzer to the milk so you get a nice *white* foam on top. Then you carefully pour in the Fox's and stir, making sure NOT TO BREAK THE FOAM! Lets see you do that!
I had this conversation with you and you liked the brown foam. I guess I'm wrong. Your way looks prettier but doesn't taste as good.

eggnog is the epitome of gross. in fact, it's beyond gross. it's nastitrocious. it's made from the blood of demons and it turns good little kittens into ravaging lions.
Has anyone else noticed that the recipes for uncooked eggnog look a lot like the recipes for French Toast batter? I usually go the expensive route and buy it in cartons, since I'm lazy and there aren't many eggnog drinkers in the house. But the recipe I used called for either bourbon or rum... and they were listed as optional. Since I was living in a dry house at the time (and I was 13), we left it out. I haven't tried it yet, but Southern Comfort has a regular and Premium Egg Nog on the shelves. Part of the reason I started making egg nog at home is because I was drinking too much of it and its damned expensive Much easier to go to Sam's Club and buy a pallet of Eggs I had a recipe from a Bed & Breakfast that I found online but now I can't find the website... must keep looking i guess.
