so. i kinda got the impression that fruheads in general aren't too keen on pop music. :D personally, i went off it for a while, but i'm slowly getting to like it again... although it certainly seems that it's not as good as it used to be. ('when i was a youngster...' '*tut* the youth of today... *shakes head* etc. :D) i seem to be developing a penchant for the big acts like justin timberlake and britney. *ducks* :D right. my point being, are you a sekrit pop tart? or do you loathe chart music?are you kindain the middle? or do you not care either way?
I put this into the guilty pleasures forum, but I love pop radio. I rarely buy the albums, since most of the fluff is god-awful album filler... but the radio songs are really quite good. I'll save the rest for my replies to the pop haters. :-)
I guess it depends what you call pop music. It is a very broad category. I don't like most of what tops the charts now but there has been pop music in hte past that I love. Much of what Fruvous did was really pop music.
hmmm, i see what you mean... okay, well i suppose i'm talking about modern present-day chart music. top 40. y'know.

I might say ALL of what Frvous did was really pop music. It probably would have been better to have specified "Top 40" rather that "pop," but I guess it was pretty well explained within the posts.
Like any other genre of music - there's the good stuff and then the rest of the crap. :)
Of course, my fave pop band doesn't get nearly the radio play they deserve - The Supers
is mostly stuff like the Maggies, FoW, etc....
But I knew that probably wasn't what you were talking about... so.. I picked the last option.
...this is one of those annoying "me, too" posts to say, essentially, yeah. me, too. there's a good portion of my music collection i'd call "pop" even though it's likely never to appear anywhere near the top 40, just b/c of its musical sensibilities (catchy chorus, easily-identifyable melody, often includes harmonies, glistening production). so, i picked option 3 (i think... the one about some being good, some being bad). and i like some radio-pop too... but rarely enough to buy the album, natch.
Is there really a difference between Top 40 and pop? I see what you mean about styles... but... I don't know. I have a friend that considers Pansy Division "pop" (for those who don't know, PD is a very entertaining gay punk band. To my knowledge, the only airplay they've received is on my show... although I'm sure there have been others.) At which point does an artist become pop? Didn't nine inch nails have a pop hit a few years ago? And what about Marshall Crenshaw, a man with excellent pop craft, but minimal pop success?

I thought "Pop" stood for popular music. So wouldn't that just depend on where you are, and what kind of people you ask?
The thing that was special about the 60s musically wasn't so much that music was better but that so much of the best music made then was popular. If Hendrix was playing today he'd be consigned to college radio.
I disagree, I believe that the music from the sixties was the pinnacle of musical possibility (at least that I can see) and Hendrix, if he was alive, I believe would be, like the Rolling Stones and Clapton, playing tours with prices so high no one could afford them.
I meant that if Hendrix was starting today he'd only be played on College radio. The same for Clapton and probably the Stones.
I disagree. While "classic rock" formatted stations are slow to upgrade their playlists, anyone the caliber of Clapton, Hendrix, or the Stones would be snapped up in a heartbeat. Even Jonny Lang is on classic rock stations, and he's not in that league.
jonny lang is being played on classic rock stations??
At least in Indiana... Q95 loves him.
ah, i understand now, in that case I would agree

"New York, London, Paris, Munich Everybody talk about pop musik" Yes, I loved my pop music in the late 70s and 80s when I was developing my musical tastes so I think it only goes thatI like some of the stuff out now. I just don't have the same expectations of pop music that I do of other stuff I listen to. Regardless of if you like it or not it finds its way into your life, in the grocery store, the restaurants, car strereos... "Shoobie doobie do wop It's all around you Pop pop shoo wop Gonna suround you Shoobie doobie do wop It's all around Pop pop shoo wop "
Old pop music,as in from the 80's on back is awesome, innovative, entertaining, and it still required talent. Nowadays pop music is all digital, with stupid little pop princesses that could be talented but instead decide to strip and bounce around a gigantic stage lip syncing the latest "hit"....Grrrrrrr....*rolls eyes*

Every time I see this topic title, I think it's another food thread.
same here...
I was always fond of the maple brown sugar ones.
I also thought Kroger's generic chocolate ones were pretty good. If a bit soft.
*notices lacy's slightly changed icon*
Has something been summoned that we should know about?
The S'mores ones are just so decadent for a supposed breakfast food.
