Who was your favorite band or artist you saw open for Fruvous?
You can throw in bands and artists they shared a bill with also if you like.
My favorite openers were Sarah Harmer, Mike Errico, and Valentine Smith.
The best act I saw them share a bill with was Dan Bern.
I should mention that I was a big fan of Dan and Valentine Smith before I ever saw them with Fruvous.
not really technically an "opener," but when they played at the Fleadh Festival in 99, the 2 acts that went on their stage before them were Luka Bloom and then Martin Sexton. That's where I found Marty :) Hooray! The co-billings I liked were with the Nields. Super fun shows. Most of their openers have blown chunks, though... nobody in any city knows who to put with them, so I've seen bad accordion-based stuff, a TERRIBLE klezmer band, some bad pop bands, and enough boring folkchicks ;)
by the time i finally saw a frushow, i'd already seen people like the nields and dvn...i guess my favorite opener i discovered at a frushow would be mike errico.

The Nields, far and away in first place. Then, Sarah Harmer and Martina Sorbara*. Um....it's been so long, I can't really remember anyone else. *Yes, I know she opened for Jian....but in my book it still counts.

Jann Arden was the best. Just her and a guy playing an electric bass (not guitar, but an actual bass).
