Any suggestions?

   Discussion: Any suggestions?

Ok, so I have ALL of Moxy Fruvous' CD's, but I never get a chance to listen to Thornhill...so I still haven't. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which songs are really good on that album???

They're all good. Listen to the whole thing.

Ok, I will, I hope it's all good. I mean, I like all of their songs, don't get me wrong, but some of 'em take a little getting used to...(Lazlo's Career for one, but like I said, I like it now, it just takes a few times of listening to it) But ok, I'll listen to it all, hell, I'll listen to it now, I don't even know why I didn't even think of that.

A quick overview:

Half As Much: A fun song... rocks. Much better and more upbeat live, bu still good on the album.

Sad Girl: Sweet.... kind of a cutesy, wannabe social commentary. I'll admit... I always liked this one. If you want, watch the video to see Jian wanting SO badly to be one of the guys from oasis.

You Can't Be Too Careful: Despite the fact that the title and main line is a dichotomy... this is another great song. Again, though... the album is, ironically... "too careful". This is another one that goes way to ploddingly on the album.

I will Hold On: Beautiful. I love this track. Well recorded... well produced. Great stuff.

Earthquakes: I wasn't sure how this was going to be handled after hearing it mainly bluegrass/banjo at shows.... but, after the first couple listens... I loved it. Really good, interesting background and instrumentation/noisemaking. Still don't like it as much as the live bluegrass version tho.

When She Talks: Wow. Umm... this was tolerable as a solo-ish song... it's unbearable on this album. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Splatter Splatter: at the risk of sounding redundant.... the live version is so much better and has so much more energy. If that seems like a theme in my comments... it's probably because much of this album is (in my opinion) made up of really fun live songs that were "tamed" for the album.

Independence Day: LOVE it. Amazing. The production is great, and the whole feel is perfect. I can see it in my mind's eye.

Downsizing: I like this track.... I just... wouldn't put it on a mix. It's good.. it's got good meaning behind it... but... just kinda falls flat.

Hate Letter: Cute. Very cute.

If Only You Knew: Melty and stuff. :) Still liked it better without drums, etc though. It was so beautiful with just solo acoustic and backing vocals. Mmmm.

My Poor Generation: Best song on the album. Overall, an amazing track... the one on the album that could be perfect.... except... it has that DAMNED NOISE LOOP in the background! bah. But when I block that out... it's perfection.
I wonder if I could get a copy without that? Someone? Anyone?
:)

Anywho.. that's it for now.

By which she of means, ask Gordon. Listen to Splatter Splatter. Read my Infamous 40 page treatise on Thornhill.
