I hardly ever drink - all my money goes to books and cds...

Oh, and first post!! :)
Zach · 21 years, 8 months ago
And I've never been drunk. Example: I took three drinks of wine at dinner tonight. That's about it for me.

I've never been drunk either. The most drinks I've had at a time is two, that was back in college. Now I have maybe four or five drinks a year at shows with a minimum and a dark beer I really like.
Arbie Back · 21 years, 8 months ago

Driving was the meal ticket for a long time, and over the years I have found that I am rarely in a social situation where I don't have to drive. So I am in the habit of not bothering at social functions (besides, if I am so freaked by the social situation that I need a drink, then maybe I'd better calmly and soberly figure out why).

But unlike Gordon and Zacques I have been drunk on occasion, mostly in the distant, best forgottenpast.

But if I am going to have drink, I like the good stuff. 12yr old single malt Scotch. Or Guinness stout. Unless I've been outside sweating on a hot day, then any *really* cold beer, ale ,pilsner, lager, I don't care, will do. But just one thanks.

I have never been drunk, either. I don't like alcohol much. Or, rather, I don't like the taste of alcohol. I like alcoholic drinks as long as they don't taste much like alcohol. ^_^ My currentfavourite drink is strawberry daiquiri, particularly the kind they make at Earl's. Ciderscan benice, too. I don't like beer...except Guinness. I tried a sip of my dad's Coors once when I was a wee one, and I hated it.

In university, I invented my own drink called a Moxy Full Of Vodka (gee, I wonder how I came up with that). ^_~

I'm with you Robin....i too like my cider and the very occasional Guiness. Beer just tastes bad to me. I used to be into Bacardi Breezers because they pretty much tasted like fruity pop (soda). I must admit i do like those new Bacardi O3 every now and then.

I very rarly get drunk. If we go out to the localpub - which for me isaround 2 timesa week -my limit is 2 drinks or 3 at the VERY MOST (and only if i've had a really bad day). Three of any drink is quite enough to get me very "happy". Most nights i'm content with one drink and coke for the rest of the night.

nitsita · 21 years, 8 months ago

social drinker or extremely rarely? It all depends on the people I am socializing with. for example, I will not drink with/around people I do not know, or that it is the first time I'm out socializing with them..

on second hand, I've been known to stay up late at parties back home until there's only donald, gilles, danya and I, drinking and being merry.. but that happens maybe 4 times a year, at most.

I'll probably drink approximately about once or twice a month, but not getting drunk drinking...

I like beer.I like girly drinks with marachino cheeries and an umbrella. I like grappa, in very small doses. I like sangria, too, especially home-made by donald and/or danya. and kamikaze...

ellen Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
This is the boat I'm in. I'm perfectly happy not drinking for months on end, going to parties and not drinking, etc. Occaisionally, and when I'm with the right people, I like to drink and get a little giddy with them. (I chose "social drinker" becuase I don't bother to drink on my own.)

I'm really glad I have the genetics that allow me to have such a relaxed attitude to alcohol. :)
ShrinkMan · 21 years, 8 months ago
You left out the "Not anymore, you insensitive clod" option...

I will, however, acknowledge that I do sorely miss the loaf of liquid bread that is Guiness Stout, Irish coffee, Baileys, Grand Marnier Cuvee Louis Alexandre (mmm), Tanqueray and Tonic (heavy on the lime), and the wonderful simplicity of an Absolut Screwdriver... and don't get me started on fine wines... But these days, I am content merely to incorporate fine Liquers in my cooking.
Talcott · 21 years, 8 months ago
Honestly, I'm closest to "every day". A beer with dinner, or in the evening, or something. That's not even enough to get me closed to buzzed (or noticeable affected at all), but it tastes good, is good for you (in reasonable amounts of course) and that's balanced with the fact that I rarely get drunk (twice this summer, and those were wedding receptions).
Brian Dinsky · 21 years, 8 months ago
I don't drink, but in some personal terms, I equate drinking (more or less centralizing on the effects, which are effectively altered perception) with smoking pot. I prefer it to drinking, anyways, what with the lack of the hangover among other things that aren't as bad for you. That's not, however, to say that pot is better than alcohol. They aren't terribly reasonable to compare accurately.
Nik Chaikin · 21 years, 8 months ago
I'm not even 21 yet so i don't drink.
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
Me neither (though where I live the age is 19). I think, in my class of 14 people, everyone else has, but my parents don't drink so I never have.
sheryls · 21 years, 8 months ago

i drink very rarely. being on paxil, i tend to get drunk very quickly when i drink. not exactly fun, since you get an *awful* hangover from it, too. blech.

i'm trying to get off the paxil now, tho :)

I usually have a glass of wine or a beer at night while I'm winding down watching TV. I don't remember the last time I was drunk, though..
Andrea Krause · 21 years, 7 months ago

Only time I've really had alcohol was as a young kid...sip of champagne at NYE. Once I was aware enough to make a decision, though, I have never had any. It's a personal choice based on family observance and baggage. I have no regrets being a non-drinker. I have plenty of fun.

I DO love wines and such in cooking. But I won't drink.

I used to be much more militant about it. Only associating with non drinkers and stuff like that. These days I'm much more relaxed. I still hate being around *drunk* people though. It makes me really uncomfortable and brings to the surface some of my severe anxiety areas. I'm now OK with being around people while they drink. It's just the "to excess" part I can't deal with.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 7 months ago
I hate being around drunks. You start off talkign with friends then their alcohol levels rise and their IQ drops. When they start laughing at how stupid they are acting it is time to leave.

Oh.
Hrm.
It never looked strange to me... how were you seeing it?
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 7 months ago
Well, if you've tried beer and wine, surely you *know* how the heck you could drink if you wanted to.
John J. Ryan · 21 years, 7 months ago

There have been a few occasions where I would get sloppy drunk, but recently, especially since the whole barbershop thing, I've been drinking a LOT less. I find that it heavily effects my voice, and even after one drink, my performance isn't as clean as I'd like it to be.

That's not to say I won't have a good beer attending a show, or drink with friends. Those occasions just don't happen as often anymore.
