Best Star Trek Series

I liked Voyager a lot for a while but got mighty sick of it. I enjoy Enterprise but I still think I like TNG better. Original series was fun for what it was.
I just wish Deanna Troi never existed. She bugs me.

I am such a huge fan of both the original series and TNG, I was shocked to find that Enterprise is my favorite. I really enjoy the fact that everything is new to this crew, and actually to humans in general. We are watching them stumble and sometimes fall... they are so very different from the seasoned military officers in the older series. Furthermore, I think that Captain Archer is one of the most interesting captains we've seen, and that is saying quite a bit.

My theory is that all the star trek sequels are a plot by time traveling klingons to destroy earth civilization.

For me, it's all about TNG. Then Voyager, DS9, TOS, and Enterprise.
I'm still watching Enterprise and giving it a chance, though I shudder and flip the channel if I accidentally hear some of the theme. But I feel like the cast is very stilted. I can't stand the Vulcan chick. The actress is trying to play calm waters over a deep interior in turmoil, but it always looks like she's constipated. The old series has it's own charm. I just like the new ones better. (Oh, and ask me how I'm not related to William Shatner!)
It's kinda weird, actually.
You'd think I could just channel surf during that part... or mute it.. or something... but somehow it's managed to actually ruin the whole show for me. Like, even if I flip to it in the middle of an episode I'm soured by the thought of that song. Perhaps I'm just strange, though.
Additional note: I did not care for Deep Space Nine or Voyager. I don't know why, but I couldn't get into them. I guess I only like the shows that take place on some incarnation of the Enterprise. :)

I voted for TNG and all, but I must admit, it'd wicked cool that the cultural references on Enterprise are still relatively current. Archer wears a baseball cap, and they talk about actual sports-- like hockey-- as if how certain teams are performing "back home" is of interest to them. It's sorta cool to have a Star Trek whose "home" is not the Federation, but simply Earth.
Melissa, how are you not related to William Shatner?

The best series was Star Trek, obviously. TNG, DS9, etc. were cool, but they owe everything to Star Trek. What I find funny is that so many people are clueless to the fact that nearly every episode of Star Trek had some sort of social and/or political commintary going on.
Besides, Star Trek is the series that ultimately gave us Enterprise vs. Reliant.

OK, so I've never followed Star Trek enough to know which series is which and I haven't seen a full episode of it in years....but I did win a board game based on Star Trek at board games night at RIT against a bunch of geeks (including the one who made up the game)! Does that count for anything??
Kids today don't know what's good.
I remember watching the first episode of Star Trek back in 1966. I was hooked immediately. I still get a tinglelly feeling when I hear the music. It might not be my favourite show ever, I mean I am DrWhoFru not startrekfru but it is way up there.

i love the old series! with william shatner! and polystyrene boulders! and the salt man! heeheehee :D
No way! I don't know what kind of bad drugs they were on when they picked that song but it so totally sucks that it does nearly ruin the show. Fortunately since I have a tivo, I can always fast forward through it. I don't think I've ever even played it all the way through. It is SOOOOOO Awful. Enterprise rocks though!

A lot of people don't like Voyager, but I do. For me it is the closest sequal to the original series--actually it is more like what I think the original series was supposed to be like. I mean how much exploring strange new world, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and boldy going where no man has gone before did the original show do? Mostly they were always transporting medicine to Rigel 7 or diplomats to some meeting or visiting some world that was already known. Voyager is the truest Star Trek in that sense.
It's funny you should ask.
Max Shatner, uncle of ol' Bill himself, was briefly married to my grandmother.
What are you talking about? I didn't say "Kid's."
Maybe he's laughing at you because you're older than dirt.
But my dad holds the patent.

Sounds like an exotic tiger of some sort, from the fabled lands of Sheba.
I just took a closer look at the "oringal" poll... :)
actually the rule about not splitting infinitives is a construct devised by people who decided to try and make English more like Latin.
In latin, infinitives are single words. They cannot be split without destroying the word. And so people, were told that it was suddely WRONG to split infinitives, when actually, the english language does so readily and easily and even the Oxford English Dictionary acknowledges the split infinitive as a grammatically valid structure. not that anyone will ever see or read this, as the poll is now closed. but. you know. I had to. it's a pet peeve of mine. people who quote empty rules they were taught in school by people who didn't actually have a full understanding of the English language and proper grammar.
I believe it's something like:
To quickly go to the store Instead of: To go quickly to the store. Splitting up the "to go" verbiness. I may be wrong. :)
Oh, so they are words that almost ALWAYS go together, but still get split up.
