«Misch» "He's an a$$hat, sir, Major a$$hat." (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:49pm) «John J. Ryan» You should see the 2003 Beatlefest T-shirts. They are peace signs :) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:49pm) «Melinda J. Beasi» if what is in the article is the whole story, it kinda sounds like the school just didn't want to get involved at all. they didn't want to wait for someone to complain. better to just pretend that the war doesn't exist. 'cause y'know it's not like it (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:49pm) «John J. Ryan» www.beatlefest.com (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:49pm) «Melinda J. Beasi» would be on any of the students' minds or anything. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:49pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Kids/teens aren't allowed to have opinions, we're too stupid. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:50pm) «ChrisChin is Getting Old» of course there a war going on but kids don't have concerns about it. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:50pm) «Talcott» I'm trying to remember back to the first gulf war. I would have been in elementry school, so I don't remember much student art of it (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:50pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» In my case, teens. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:50pm) «Talcott» but there was a big poster from Time or Newsweek that had people, and tanks, and some other stuff on it. Symbols of them I mean (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:51pm) «Talcott» It was a map/graph of some sort (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:51pm) «Gordondon son of Ethelred» I was in Anti-war marches in Intermediate school as a pre-teen (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:51pm) «Talcott» Oil was on there too. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:51pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Ah, the pro-war. Easy to rmember when that's what the media portrays. In Canada, the media's mainly giving anti-war type coverage. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:51pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» So that's imprinted on me. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:52pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Good. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:53pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» War sucks. (hello?) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:53pm) «Misch» As I mentioned in my diary entry today, I spent the worst 35 minutes watching TV while I was in the gym yesterday. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:53pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Weren't you doing gym stuff? (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:54pm) «Misch» I was, but I was on a machine facing the TV... (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:54pm) «Misch» So I had to watch ultra-neo-conservative Fox News. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:54pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Ah. Nice word. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:54pm) «Talcott» Does anyone even pretend that Fox News is anything more than tabloid TV? (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:55pm) «Misch» They were lambasting Jesse Jackson after he said he wouldn't go to the middle east to launch a search for 2 missing reporters (as requested by their families). (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:55pm) «Talcott» I don't even know any conservatives who trust it (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:55pm) «Misch» It's tabloid TV for conservatives, that's for sure. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:56pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Fox DID come up with The Simpsons and King of the Hill, though. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:56pm) «Talcott» Fox is fine (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:56pm) «Talcott» Fox News is something completly unrealted (well, owned by the same people) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:57pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» I'm glad I don't have to watch American news. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:57pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» I don't even watch Canadian news, and I live here. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:57pm) «Talcott» Actually, most American news hasn't been that bad this time around. You need to keep your BS-O-Meter on (for both sides of the issue) but it's not as bad as I've seen it (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:58pm) «Misch» If I had a BS-o-Filter for that time, I would have seen about 8 minutes of TV during that 35 minutes... and those would have been the commercials. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:58pm) «Talcott» Although NBC/CNN fired the most compitant reporter over there (who admitidly didn't do the brightest thing he could have done) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:58pm) «Talcott» Yeah, but Fox news is the extreme example (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:59pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Well, you don't need it for Bush, anyway. (The BS-O-Meter) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 9:59pm) «iPauley» You need to keep that meter on everywhere. I'm not ashamed to admit 1) that I'm on the conservative side of the fence (not wholy, but in majority part), and 2) that I do watch Fox News. I've got the common sense, though, not to treat every word... (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:00pm) «iPauley» ...they say as Gospel truth, though. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:00pm) «Talcott» Aside from various online places, I've been getting my news fairly equally from NPR, NBC, and BBC (they run it on PBS after midnight 'round here) (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:01pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» Bush, you can just assume is BS. And if it isn't you already knew the stuff he's telling you anyway. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:01pm) «Talcott» If you look through the wording, Fox doesn't go out of its way to lie. It's mostly in its presentation (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:02pm) «Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8» bye (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:02pm) «Talcott» bye (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:02pm) «iPauley» that's pretty much it. nobody has it dead-on perfect. some are closer than others. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:03pm) «Melinda J. Beasi» gack. lj ate my entry. woe is me. (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:04pm) «danced with Lazlo» That Woe I am , that Woe I am... (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:04pm) «Gordondon son of Ethelred» king of TMI kisses the hand of Melinda (Apr 1, 2003 @ 10:04pm) «Melinda J. Beasi» it is no consolation whatsoever.
