Has The Simpsons jumped the shark?

The Simpsons, despite being off in recent seasons is still so much better than the majority of what is on TV these days.
my thoughts exactly. i wouldn't tell them to jump off a shark just yet.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! SHARK!!! RUN... erm... swim for your lives... The Simpsons are not as witty as they have been in the past, true, but I still enjoy them. If not because of the other shows, most of whom are not funny, then because Homer is such an interesting person. I think he put it best when he said, "Beer. I would kill every person in this room for a drop of sweet, sweet beer." Thank you.
And it's actually getting better.
It went downhill for a few years (which was still good, but noticeable less than it could be) but unlike most shows which never get better once they start getting worse, Simpsons has been climbing back quality-wise. I think it maybe jumped a few busses. But it landed fine and managed to avoid intensive care.

I think they're still great. The past few seasons have been a little sub-par, but the latest has improved. Like any show that's been around as long as they have, they're starting to run out of fresh topics that aren't campy, so they're getting more campy. That's fine, too, and for the most part they do it well. (Though there've been a few episodes that made me groan)

dwd, i just submitted this poll yesterday. and yes, the simpsons jumped the shark a few years ago. and it makes me sad, because i'll watch reruns from time to time and remember how brilliant it used to be.
but you know, seth mcfarlane is coming back to fox with a whole new batch of family guy episodes, so who needs new simpsons? :) dwd. more Family guy episodes, Spock??
yes! (lies on the ground)
there (appears behind you) will be (appears in front of you) more family guy eps (appears upside down, hanging from a tree) next YEAR! (is run over by a car) /me agrees with Carey. they're still enjoyable, but when i see old repeats i'm just stunned. the new ones don't do that for me. i should point out that i was never a religious simpsons viewer.

the best episode this season was the one where they put Simpsons characters into history lessons, probably because it didn't give Homer any sort of opportunity to do anything really horrendously stupid.
it seems that they don't even care about episodes as a whole anymore, just about generating funny one-liners, which is why they're trying way too hard with Ralph and coming up with quotes far less memorable than "Oh boy, sleep! That's where I'm a Viking!" but you know, seth mcfarlane is coming back to fox with a whole new batch of family guy episodes, so who needs new simpsons? :) For true? I'd heard about that, but I didn't know that it would ever come to fruition. I'd also heard that he was going to make a Family Guy movie *instead* of putting the show back on. But your news is better. And truer, I would imagine. {g} Now let's hope Fox doesn't wreck it up by constantly moving its timeslot, so that a lot of people don't even know that it's on at all. I still need the Simpsons, though. And Futurama. Those were my triumvirate of Fox cartoon greatness. I still cry for Futurama. I curse you, Sunday night football.

But only because I watch so little TV that I'm not up-to-date on what's going on currently, etc. I've seen a whole lot of Simpsons episodes but I hardly ever see them new and don't know which ones are from when or anything like that so I have no idea how to track their progression. Yeah. And stuff.
