TMBG's "Factory Showroom" - Side 1

Oh noooooes - "Your Own Worst Enemy" was on side 2 of the cassette! Don't make me choose between that and "Till My Head Falls Off". :P
I like that one too, but it hasn't aged as gracefully as the others for me. But I'm strange - Factory Showroom is probably my favorite TMBG album. *ducks under the deluge of tomatoes from Lawrence*
Though I will say that "How Can I Sing Like a Girl" is my vote for the worst TMBG song ever.
I live in New York City and I'm your friend! The song is true!

"New York City" is one of those songs I never realized other people liked too. I guess now I know.
Oh man, 'How Can I Sing Like a Girl' is pretty bad, but they've made some really horrendous stuff since. 'Another First Kiss', anyone?
Besides, it's not like you listed Mink Car or The Spine as your favourite album. Then you'd get the tomatoes. :) Factory Showroom is a very strong showing from Linnell and a very weak one from Flansburgh. I'm just surprised I'm the only vote so far for 'Metal Detector'.
I don't really consider "Mink Car", "The Spine" and "Here Come the ABCs" TMBG. As far as I'm concerned, TMBG ended here. :)
Agreed about Linnell vs. Flansburgh here. Aside from possibly S-E-X-X-Y (who wrote that one?), everything Flans did here is shit. His only listenable song was a cover. But Linnell was at the top of his game on this CD. And let's be honest - listening to TMBG albums for the Flansburgh songs is like reading Playboy for the articles. :P
I cast my vote for Til' My Head Falls Off... though NYC is a close second. I have to say that I don't mind "How Can I Sing Like A Girl".... it gets a little repetitious, but it's okay beyond that. Maybe I'm just a romantic (sigh) but I also like "Another First Kiss".... and for that matter... "When She Talks" LET THE TOMATOES FLY!
S-E-X-X-Y is Flans, too. Though I was thinking about 'Pet Name', too, and how from a musical perspective, it's not awful, but Flans is really showing how bad a singer he is in it. I mean, he's never been fantastic, but Pet Name is just very badly off-key. And 'I Can Hear You' would be tolerable if they'd just done it normally instead of as a silly novelty song.
But agreed that Linnell was pretty much at the top of his game - Exquisite Dead Guy is a little weak, but everything else he did here is SO solid. And let's be honest - listening to TMBG albums for the Flansburgh songs is like reading Playboy for the articles. :P hahahaha. so true. he's got some good songs, but it's definitely not because of his songwriting that Flood went gold.
Token Back To Brooklyn will be on the Long Tall Weekend poll.
