Philly Folk Fest roll call!

Discussion: Philly Folk Fest roll call!
Rachel Marie aka RAI · 16 years, 10 months ago
I know, I know, some of you guys think that Philly Folk Fest has sold out, but you know what? They have some really good performers this year, notably, Great Big Sea! That's right, ladies and gents, Murray Foster will be back in Philly this summer!

Who's going? I need camping buddies! (Besides my husband, of course. Being from Newfoundland, he really wants to see Alan Doyle outside of St. John's.)

I will second beausoleil for sure. I preferred Stephen solo to with the Sixers but he is always fun. It is nice to see lisabeth singing instead of just selling her chatchka. Which is not a knock on her chatchka. I've bought it.

I am trying to get my mom to buy me a plane ticket for my birthday. If I make it, this will be my 26th consecutive year. :)

I am happy to see Janis Ian on the list, she is worth seeing twice.   Hoots & Hellmouth are the big Philly favorite from last year- they are coming back again.  But Judy Collins is better in a more intimate setting. Last time I saw her at PFF, she put me to sleep. (or maybe that was the booze) Then I saw her when I worked at the Keswick Theatre and she was wonderful.

From what I've heard Judy is inconsistent. It might not be a matter of the intimacy of the venue but if she's feeling it that day. I'm not speaking from experience. She isn't one of my favs and didn't excite me either time I saw her. I did get a chance to talk to a lot of people that see her often and I repeated what they told me.

Yeah, that could be it, too.  I guess I just got lucky!  I wasn't even planning on seeing her show, I was just filling in at the merch table.

I miss that job. heh.
