Poll: How many MySpace or Facebook (whichever is greater) friends do you have?

I'm just trying to get a feel for the numbers.

I have 40. and not anyone from here. :P

I did and I am not about to shoot myself for your amusement. I just hit 2^8 friends.

I think the majority of them are musicians. Of course there are duplications of sorts. In addition to the Kennedys I have The Stringbusters, The Snacks, and the Strangelings. they all include Pete and Maura. Abbie Gardner is also part of Red Molly and "Abbie Gardner & Anthony Da Costa." Who else? There is Aoife O'Donovan who is in Crooked Still and Sometymes Why. There are plenty more like that.

I'm the stray 400+, but only because my personal profile turned into my musician profile years ago. I know roughly zero of the people on my list. I'm very happy that Facebook just launched a separate musician area that uses a connected but separate account, so I don't have to poison my personal profile. Now if only they'd offer a way get rid of all the fscking apps. Ugh.

You can drop any application you like on facebook. I eliminated a lot of mine.

Yeah, but it's annoying when people constantly "invite" you to try apps, even when you've explicity, repeatedly stated on your profile that you are not interested. 

Exactly. I want a global setting saying "Don't let apps send me invites, email (ugh), news feed items or any other communication unless I've explicitly added it myself".

Trying to block them as they come in is pretty much a game of whack-a-mole.

It's like, I'm not fourteen.  I don't care about anyone's NaughtyCocktailNinjaSantaClausLotteryRateMeSuperWall.

I just noticed that there is a "block application" option for each application. So yes you have to block each app separately but you only need do so once, not each time you are invited.

It's still more work than you should have to do.  There should just be a box you check in your settings to not receive the invitations at all.

I don't see that implication and certainly didn't mean it. I mean I have a facebook and I'm not religious. Of course I'm also perfect so I violate that rule.

Josh I just friended you on Myspace. One thing. Your security question to allow friending is "what is my last name." As your user name is "Josh Woodward" I don't think it is going to stop anybody :-)

Damn, that ruined it. Now I have 2^8+1 friends. I am going to unfriend somebody now. I do have a few random people that friended me I'll take the time to drop one of them.

Ah, but it does. :) I'm actually kinda picky about who I accept friend requests from, because I don't want it full of dumbass bands who use automated friend-adder software. It's basically a human test, and it works really well.
