Next week will feature the C album, followed by favorite live tracks, covers, non-album tracks, and other misc. stuff.

I stand by my original review; what Jian called The infamous 40 page treatise.

I really think Thornhill was their strongest album. It was a wonderful culmination of the skill they'd been building for the previous decade. It was a wonderful album and an excellent sendoff and swan song".

It had the best production, the best playing, the best mixing, some of the better songs... I think Thornhill really is underappreciated. If it wasn't a good album, I'd just be stuck laughing that someone named an album after that abomination of a suburb.

(*I don't really count C as a real album. It was just sort of, "Here are some fun songs on a CD", but not a release that they considerd to have any real weight.)

C? You mean that steaming pile of crap Früvous left us with before the hiatus? That's not an album. That's a collection of stale leftovers, most of which were crap before they became leftovers.

that's another way of putting it :)

Wow, I'm interested in seeing how the "C" poll goes next week....

I was going to go the "....don't say anything at all." route.

really hard... between indy and mpg.

I like them both quite a lot... but in the end, mpg won.

Bender Back · 17 years, 5 months ago
For me, it was between If Only and MPG, and MPG won

Same picks, different final choice.  I guess we canceled each other out.

MPG got my vote (though I was leaning towards Downsizing at first). It's a beautiful "final song". And based on the track listings for all the band's albums, Früvous is very adept at having the right "final song" for the overall mood of the album, be it to uplift sadder music, add gravity to joie-de-vivre, or sum up their oeuvre. MPG serves as a lament for modern society, as well as lamenting the end of Früvous.

you know, when I first heard mpg.... it was live.. and I was like, "whoa... whose song is this that they're covering??"

:D

It just had a depth beyond what I'd heard from them before.
