Poll: When did you join FHDC

I got curious about the mix of people currently on FHDC. When did you join? I joined on the first day. One the first 50 people.

I got here fairly late in the game. What was it like back then? ;-)

We had to walk 5 miles to school in two feet of snow every day and it was uphill both ways.

It was great until you added Yahoo! and Yahoo! Finance links to my profile. I will never forgive you for that. Ever.

I hate it when the newbies put on airs of being old school.

Yeah, no kidding. How can you know what it's like to be one of us unless you were around for that hour and a half on the night of the 10th? We loved, we lost, and maybe... just maybe... we learned a little about ourselves that night.

I remember it was after I met Lawrence at the DC Borders in-stores in Aug. '99, and before the Philly Folk Fest that Sept.

I'm one of those cool kids who has been here since the beginning, but I'm not sure how.

I didn't have access to any alt. usenet groups, and only really became active once FHDC went online. I have no idea how I knew that this site existed, let alone joined the first day. Was there an announcement on fruvous.com?

You couldn't avoid knowing about it. It was the cover story of both Time and Newsweek. Rolling Stone had a special FHDC issue. My personal favorites was Playboy's "The Girls of FHDC." There were network specials about it on NBC, ABC, and CBC. President Clinton declared August 10 National Join FHDC Day

wasn't Aug 10th the Thornhill release party at Milesotnes? That would explain why I didn't sign up immediatly...it took me a few days to get back to school and access to a computer ^_^

I just went back to my profile to see when I joined, and was horrified...Sept. 10, 2001! After that, the world turned upside down. And all the more reason that we need the guys back.
