Flash Websites

Do people make flash websites just to prove they know how to? They seem to always be less functional than html ones.
That's the best theory I've heard yet. I think that everyone on earth hates Flash websites, but there's a subset of people that decide that the wonderful idea they have would be the one good use of Flash. And unless that idea involves shooting kittens out of a cannon, they're mistaken.
Nearly all flash-only websites deserve to be featured on webpagesthatsuck.com
I don't think it's quite what you mean, but the Flashblock plugin for Firefox is a beautiful thing.

This forum gave me the nerve to tell my friend, a musician, how bad her Flash Website is.
Sure it does. If you go to a Flash-dependent website, you won't have to wait for it to kill your internet connection and crash your browser before you kill it and move on to a real website. ;-)
Which is probably unfair to the artist who in many circumstances has no control over his website or no idea that "flash is bad" and that the guy he paid a hundred bucks to used it.
And I better not catch you on Homestarrunner.com anymore either, I suppose? I'm not defending the use of Flash, btw. I just can't comprehend completely blowing off a site because of it.
well, HSR is a different story. :)
Though I do wish that the navigation wasn't all flash.... As for blowing off a site... I just don't bother once I see the little flashblock button come up. I figure I don't care enough to put myself through that unless it's some kind of info I desperately need. *shrug*
It wasn't chutzpah or peer pressure. This is my friend Ruth's site and I think she needs to change it for her own good. I just needed to know it wasn't just me that hated flash sites.
