Discussion: because it's not about the piano at all, apparently.

You said you can't read music well. There are a musicians who can't read it at all, Christine Lavin, Dave Van Ronk, Edgar Winter, and some English bloke named Paul McCartney. They all rock the Kasbah.

As for playing an instrument the right way. Ever look at video of guitar gods playing? So many use their thumbs. Hendrix did it all the time.

You can always take lessons now. You'll appreciate them more than when you were a little kid.

Finally you are way to young to be putting pressure on yourself.

Hopefully I can improve on my first attempt to write music for your lyrics. :)

And I also speak from someone who can play a lot of instruments, but none of them technically well (except for trombone, and those chops have fallen by the wayside now).

It's still fun for me, and I think my biggest talent lies in having a good ear. I can follow along with people on songs in terms of rhythm and chords (Soloing is a monster that is way beyond me still).

You also have a great ear, how else are you able to imagine the music in your head, you just can't put it down on paper yet. But as Gordon said, some of the best musicians can't read a note of music. They never had to. It's like being able to speak a language but not read or write it.
