Its a new year I earned my degree but no raise. Anyone care to recommend some good online places to look?

Thanks Andrea. I will check them out. I like this job, the hours are very flexible and I pretty much am on my own with minimal supervision but unfortunately I am at the top of the pay scale for the position.

Unfortunately I do too. You hear the great job crap all the time but then they nickle and dime you for raises. All the money stays at the top. Every year I get coupons at Thanksgiving and Xmas for free egg nog and ice cream...

heh...ok...i don't feel so bad now.� Our christmas bonus this year (from the company that bought us out) was a fleece blanket with their logo on it. The message: "Sorry you can't earn enough to pay your heating bills this winter, but here's a blanket to keep you warm."........cheers............

My Christmas bonus was having to come in the week after New Years and give a second final and grade them. I was not paid for this time. The second final was needed because many students missed the final because of the transit strike. They should have just closed the school.

Isn't capitalism great?

Well, just be glad you're not a first-year teacher. I'm here 7-5 daily, whereas most teachers don't even show up for the whole 7:30-3:30 block when we're required to be here, and they all get paid like twice as much as I do because they've been here so long. I did the math once, and I make less per hour than I did at my part-time campus jobs in college.

My wife is a teacher-the first years were definitely rough. But she is glad she stuck with it.

When I was temping, most of my gigs were at non-profits. If working the front desk/file room is any indication, I'd say look into it. They tend to be fairly laid back and comfortable. If you pick something you're interested in, there's a bit more motivation. I don't know if the pay's as good (on average) but it might still be more than what you're leaving.
