The Budgiedome Songbook
As per the discussion on the wall late last night:
I totally have a project for us... I've talked about it with Carey, after the NY get-together. We need to make a basic Budgie Dome songbook with lyrics to all the stuff that gets requested when we're singing together.
(Sep 23 2002 @ 00:24)
ooooh (Sep 23 2002 @ 00:24)
just lyrics, though, right? that should be easy. (Sep 23 2002 @ 00:25)
I'm thinking 50 pages, three-hole punched, as the basic edition. Folks could bring new pages to share, based on what they want to sing. (Sep 23 2002 @ 00:25)
And so on and so forth.... You can check the archives for the full discussion.
I'll be happy to host the lyrics files on Budgiedome.com. I'll also be happy to contribute the TMBG section of the book. This has top be a join project though, so we need others for other songs that should go in the book. Please discuss away...
And thanks to everyone for thinking up this great idea!!!!
Um. First of all, I'd like to point out that Neal was the one who came up with this idea.
Second of all, I'd like to point out that, as Lawrence has already said, he and Neal and I have it pretty much under control.
It's just going to be a collection of the songs that, in our experience, anyway, Fruheads usually end up singing when there's a bunch of them and a guitar or two all in the same place. Budgiedome, Frucon, someone's house, whatever. Not every song ever recorded by every band that every Fruhead likes. That's just insane.
But if this is going to become such a big deal, we'll post the song list we come up with this weekend and see if there are any more suggestions.
Whatever.
When I posted the Budgiedome thread, I didn't know that the names would get left out. :(
And secondly, if you've got everything under control, that's great. Just letting you know I'd be more than happy to lend a hand if you need one.
Thanks! Like I said, I'll post the list of songs in this thread and if anyone else has more suggestions, you can let me know.
And like Neal mentioned in the discussion last night, it would also be cool if, at frff or whatever, people wanted to teach songs and bring copies of the words for everyone else. I know I had a blast on the way home from Clearwater when Melissa and Gella and I were teaching rounds to each other. And there's so much more good music out there besides the usual Budgiedome suspects; it just takes someone who's willing to teach a song and people who are willing to learn it.
Hopefully, this will help more people feel more comfortable during and more a part of Fruhead jamming -- which'll mean more fun for everyone involved.
I like that idea. We can do the Pete Seeger thing and do singalongs.
And everyone will *have* to sing along, because we're legendary folk icons and 5 billion years old besides. No, wait a minute...
Is the round "Come follow" in there along with all the Beatles stuff? That's pretty cool.
