Poll: How do you feel about Black and White films and TV shows

I am not one of those people that consider black and white photography a virtue in films but it doesn't stop me from enjoying something in black and white. Three of my favorite films are in B&W; Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and Doctor Strangelove. I love B&W TV shows; The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and the Dick Van Dyke show would all make my top ten list. All of them have been consigned to specialty cable outlets because they are in Black and White and programmers feel that a general audience wouldn't want to watch them. When I'm flipping channels I am more likely to stop when I see Black and White. If they are showing it, it is more likely to be a classic.

Good tastes in episodes. To Serve Man is my very favorite. I'm now kicking myself because I can't remember the title of the one with Talkie Tina. It is also a classic. my friend and I quote it all the time.

Last time I saw it was the twilight zone marathon last new years on the sci fi channel.� I hope it's on again.

I remember in one of them I enjoyed, there was a little�tiny spaceship invading some woman's home,�and she got all freaked out,�and the audience (me) was sure�they were evil�aliens. Then when she damaged the alien ship it flew away and said something like "spaceship 49 reporting back to planet earth." Good'un.

A great episode. The woman is Agnes Morehead, Endora on Bewitched. She was also Kane's mother in Citizen Kane.

I know way too much about the Twighlight Zone.

I just saw Casablanca a few weeks ago for the first time and loved it. Also, I saw Some Like it Hot tonight, which I had never seen, and also loved it.

I definitely am a fan of the B&W film look; it always seems to me like the detail is crisper than it is in color, but that may also have to do with other choices/technologies. I like movies, but know little about them.

omg love Some Like it Hot.� Well, love almost anything with Jack Lemmon, really. :) He was amazing.

Reminds me of that movie Pleasantville. Spiderman starred in that one. He tried to hide his identity throughout the film, I saw right through him though.
