Ooooooh, vacuum packing food is, indeed, lots of fun! My mother bought Jonathan a vacuum sealer a few years ago and it's like his favorite thing in the house. It's so nice to get good deals on food and then freeze them and cook them later. So convenient. He even uses the vacuum sealer to marinate meat in the plastic container that came with the sealer.
I also know it's weird to see oneself become one's mother, in so many ways. Lots of button-pushing, eh?
i know exactly what you mean. 5 years ago the idea of becoming my mother was quite frightning, now i share more and more traits with her - certain things i say, what i think is cute, and what i think is right - turns out, my mom was pretty cool, i've just spent over 20 years thinking she's not.

I grew up being MORE poor than I am now. but I didn't realize it because of the lifestyle that we lived. on the farm. growing what we needed to survive. no running water or electricity for a while... but it never seemed as bad as it was.
heh we just did the same thing you guys did. saw this good deal bought a bunch and sealed and froze. and... I like knowing I'm saving money, that I'm being smart. being mom isn't such a bad thing.... so long as I can stay away from that abusive man thing.
