FRFF 05 pics
no pics but tons of great memories to sustain me till next year. I met some of the nicest people there this year. What a wonderfully diverse number of groups that band together like a extended family to make the festival such a success. I stayed up all night 2 0f the 4 nights and heard some incredible jams and singalongs. there is just nothing like FRFF(that I have experienced).
I would like to start attending more fests every year. Currently FR is the only one that I regularly go to. Any suggestions?

You need to go to The Susquehanna Musics and Arts Festival aka SMAF. I find it hard to say which I enjoy more, FRFF or SMAF. It is far smaller and more intimate. You don't need to camp, though you can if you want to, they have cabins. It is a better place to discover new artists. It is where I first saw WA9. It even has the budgiedome. We don't do the late night music thing there though because they have their own song circle which you can join or just kibbutz.

i didnt get much but here is the 11 shots i managed to get. most of them are donna and shelly. because most of what i saw was donna and shelly :)
wait... that was *joolee*? I thought it was just some chick named julie.
Damn. Nobody tells me anything. I was probably all unfriendly and everything. hee! no one recognized you - i didnt know who you were until you said you were julie - and you knew me, so it MUST BE JOOLEE JULIE! :D reasons i didnt recoginize you: a) no glasses. b) hippie dress. c) hair pulled back. :D after walking aroudn for an hour i got this terrified feeling... DEAR GOD I'M NEVER GOING TO FIND ANYBODY! and my sandals were NOT condusive to climbing to upper camp to find the dome in the hopes of finding people. i had blisters within 30 minutes :/
Lauren was in disguise. I didn't know who she was even when she said "Hi Gordon." to me. A haircut and sunglasses will do that.

My digital pictures can be found here. Captions to come later on when I have the wit and energy to write them.
I have 15 rolls of film to develop, so more pics will be posted at some point. Well I would have found you earlier if I had enough gall to go up to that strange familiar blond chick who walked by. :)

please post more soon so that those of us that could not attend can relive ffrf vicariously through you. (i always wanted to say that. that whole "living vicariously" part. i don't even think i got the word right.)
thank the lord for www.dictionary.com
i agree. i've been looking through them all, and one thing really struck me: it's so *pretty.* the sky, and the puffy clouds, and the rolling hills and such. i'd go just to look around and say "ooh! look at the clouds!"
and you were mostly right. just change the first 'a' to an 'i.' vicariously.
wondering where the clouds were ;-)
clouds or not, it was still a pretty blue sky. it looked like that fake Windows desktop picture on the computers in stores.

Here are some of my pics. I'm waiting until I have a proper gallery working on mah website before uploading everything. Let me know if you have to have a full sized copy of anything.
your name shouldnt' be "Joni Mitchell." Pete Kennedy said you were "better than Joni Mitchell."
i told claudia i was putting that in my press kit. :P
and honestly, if i'm changing my name to anything, it should be "marcie ross." *snork*
OH!
I get it.... no no.. that was totally not intentional. I was shooting at iso 3200.... so very few of the hundred or so pics I took that night actually came out usably. I only got one of you that was really usable... but... I didn't think it was very flattering. If you're curious, drop me a frum, I can email it to you, or post it in the group if you like it. :)
Melissa I totally said hi to you at the Lobby on Thursday morning. (I was sitting on the ground?) And then later during the rest of the folk fest. But I have super short hair now so you probably didn't recognize me. :)
oh, ok.
that's a very big weight off my mind now. :) i would like to see it, tho, even if i look like hell in it.
Holy shoobies! Right! That's you! OK - I knew later in the festival that I'd met you at the Lobby, and that we'd met in the past too. But I didn't connect you with you here, though.
I'm dumb, sometimes I am.

OK, now my pics are all in a proper gallery. Much thanks & props to Naight for his help.
Well you could've used a bigger font, but I guess that'll do.

So thanks to an unexpected bonus at work, I was able to justify spending the money to develop the rolls of film from FRFF and I posted a bunch of them on my site. I still need to cut some of them out, but there are new pics in all three albums, with the bulk in the performers section. Enjoy!
I second the suggestion for SMAF (susquehanna music and arts festival). it is small and very friendly and usually has a first rate lineup. someone once said the difference between FR and SMAF is that at FR you go up and introduce yourself to the performers; at SMAF, they come up and introduce themselves to you. The number of campetrs was small, but there is room for a lot more. While it is true that there were not late night song circles, because SMAF has one big one, there was some amateur picking going on. The buedgiedome was there in 2005, as was a mini-GFP, but it would be great if we could get more people to come and camp next time around. 2005 SMAF was the first weekend in May, and it was pretty chilly at night, although it will be a week later this year. So come prepared. Also, the number of food vendors was pretty small, and we had to go out for ice since there was none on site. There are also cabins - which were as cold as the tents - and bathrooms with flush toilets and showers! john r You must first create an account to post.
