OK... I know that probably more than one person here has a less than stellar opinion of the Live8 concerts. However, for those who haven't read fark, AOL (yes, I knoooow) has released several performances from Live8 for viewing & download. Among those performances are 4 songs from GBS... featuring the man I let out of my basement years ago... Murray Foster! *squee!* Here's the address: http://music.channel.aol.com/live_8_concert/london_philly_toronto It's pretty self-explanatory to get the files. Have fun.
don't know about the wohle basement thing, but yay for actual fru-content. i enjoyed that. murray looks very...rock star-ish. in a good way.
of course, he does... he's the Mur-man. he sounded great too. :-)
Actually, there's only 2 songs from live8, the other 2 look to be from albums, and since aol decided to not support firefox, and I can't confirm this. CTV, however, did only show them doing 2 songs.
I went to the Live8 show and I can confirm that GBS only did two songs there.
I noticed that after the fact... I was going through the whole "yay! it's Murray" thing & posted before I looked.

So can I, as I was there as well :) (Jillian, you were there? I'm surprised we didn't run into one another at some point..)
I was pretty much camped out in one spot the whole day. If you happened to see a bunch of frat boys with a big cloud of woodsy-smelling smoke billowing around them, i was tucked away behind them :)

...that murray's been dead for the past seven years.
Exactly, Murray died in a car crash following the release of Wood and was replaced by a double. They put clues in all the later albums.
- The album is called "b" because it is the second Murray.
- On the first inside photo in YWGTTM the other three stand together and Murray is off to teh side. You can see Mike grieving over Murray's death.
- If you play "lowest highest point" backwards you clearly here them say, "Murray's a dead man number 9."
- Splatter Splatter is really about the car crash.
- Do I need to even go into the deep death related symbolism of the Norbals?

I'd completely forgotten about The Norbals. I was quite happy that way.
the album is called "c" cause the second murray felt left out when jian mentioned tall new buildings so the thirdmurray wasgreat big sea's old bassist who got plastic surgery.
See. That's what I wanted everyone to think. I kidnapped Murray in 11/98 after the Tralf show in Buffalo. I've kept him in my basement for a number of years only letting him out for special occasions.

...because I think I creeped the fuck out of him yesterday. And gave him a flyer.
dude...that made my day. considering i'm sitting here supposed to be doing a project on paradigms. and i'm at camp. camp i say! *dies*
So, I was perusing the web as I am apparently unable to sleep anymore and found this. It's interesting only in that it's a performer's perspective on the whole Live 8 phenomenon.
