Should Fruvous get back together for Live8?

Discussion: Should Fruvous get back together for Live8?
Brian Bernardini · 19 years, 8 months ago
Wouldn't that be something? I'm sure they wouldn't get a long set, but it's a great opportunity for them to play together. Heck, if Pink Floyd can do it...
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 8 months ago

Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?

haha...i was talking to my friend yesterday, and he saw my get fuzzy calendar, and he goes "so which one's fuzzy?"

even though i've only answered that question about a million times. :P

back on topic, if they want to, they should. and i thought it was "Live Aid." Since when did they do this whole little '8' thing?
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 8 months ago

Because it's not the same as the first Live Aid...it's meant to correspond with the G8 (I think that's what they're called) economic summity thingies. It's to raise awareness/pressure not money this time around. So the Live 8 is a tie-in with the new agenda, I think.

aaah...okay. i get it.

btw, your kitten is teh cuteness. :)

if they want to, they should

And that's the key. While I'd love to see them perform again, I'd rather have nothing than a tour that they're not into. I remember seeing a show during their last summer (Cincinnati, June or July 2000) and they clearly weren't having a good time. It was sad to watch. Right now they're all happily doing their own thing, and that's much better than an unhappy tour.

uh huh....but haven't we discussed this a bajillion times? even since i got here, which was l o n g after the hiatus. that seems to be the general conscensus, because no one wants to see them doing something they don't want to do. right?
Talcott Back · 19 years, 8 months ago
We have ;-)

I think part of the issue is that the FAQ could use a bit of updating. I know it addresses the hiatus, but only in the broadest terms.

I totally agree. They should only play if their creative juices as a band start to flow again and they want to tour again.

Ever watch "Hit Me Baby 1 More Time"? Then you've watched many acts that should have STAYED on hiatus.

Paul Back · 19 years, 8 months ago
I did watch one for about 1 minute or two. Wang Chung-two middle aged white guys singing R Kelly's ( or is it nelly??) "it's gettin hot in here..." was painful to watch. Apparently besides doing one of their own hits they have to pick a current hit song...
John J. Ryan Back · 19 years, 8 months ago
that was very painful to watch. You can tell which performers haven't stop performing and which ones were simply dug up after 20 years. Sophie B. Hawkins and Vanilla Ice were not bad at all (Did I just say that Vanilla Ice wasn't bad?) simply because they've never stopped performing. Sophie (who's really a folkie) looked like she was having a ton of fun doing her old pop songs.

only if they agree to spandex and 80's style hair band hair!

i've got fashion in my eye just thinking about it.

I've actually long dreamed of Jian and Murray going around as Tall New Buildings (with or without the rest of the band). Maybe next time GBS tours (they're on hiatus too, if I remember correctly) Jian'll tag along and TNB will be the opening act ;-)
Dan Back · 19 years, 8 months ago

They should perform at the wxpn all about the music concert.
