Unexpected musical reference.

   Discussion: Unexpected musical reference.

I put this in my Diary but figured I'd share it here too. While preparing for my fantasy baseball league draft I came across some interesting player profiles in the Baseball Prospectus

  • Bob Zimmerman John Lennon said he didnt believe in Zimmermann, which may or may not have been a refernce to minor league closers. When youve stolen Bob Dylans name, youre going to have to answer that kind of question.

  • Josh Paul If a Paul must be had, we recommend the Angels bag the third catcher concept and go with Ellis Paul, the Boston balladeer. He cant hit but neither can Josh, and hell keep the team mellow with gently strummed songs of life on the road.

  • Bobby Jenks As in the old TMBG song, Jenks throws sapphire bullets of pure love

Pretty cool. Have you found musical references where you least expect it?

I found another one.
  • Rob Nen It'd be cool to see him trot out from the pen to the strains of I Palindrome I.

What's going on with "the table"

My chiropractor plays music in the office, and he loves recommendations. So, when he saw this in a magazine article, he knew exactly who'd be interested:

Although this 800-pound gorilla of leg checks can no longer be used in its current state to investigate the basic science of leg checking, it does serve admirably to confirm the second law of thermodyanamics: The entropy of the universe is constantly increasing. As Moxy Fruvous noted: "It's entropy, you see, that turns finesse into mess."
