Who is your guilty pleasure? You know, the one you absolutely love love love... and your friends tease you or would if they knew until the end of time for this passion?
Mine is Donny Osmond.

Guilty Pleasure Music
it never occured to me to be ashamed of any music i listen to until high school, when we had to do a "lyrics as poetry" assignment my junior year's english class. i'd done some on some old James songs that were basically about rejecting drugs/alcohol because they were life-sucking agents and about putting all your eggs in one basket. we had to play music samples. in the middle of my presentation, one kid raised his hand and said, "do you actually listen to this crap?" and i immediately started stammering and losing my footing. i felt awful. now, years later, i realize they all did their reports on like, Matchbox 20 songs, and they should be ashamed, not me.

Hanson.
I thought they were cute in 8th grade, but then I realized that some of their stuff is actually worth listening to because it's actually GOOD. Like, for writing their own shiz and being 13 it was good, but now that they're more grown up, they sound and write better... but some songs are DEFINITELY more well written than others. Ah well. That, and pretty much any poppy dancey music, which is fun to dance to. Including, but not limited to, Britney Spears' fast stuff (her slow songs make me wanna hurl), *Nsync.... yeah stuff you can dance to.
That's OK. I wasn't actually very ashamed. :) I mean, it's not really about any particular band, but about whatever the stupid kids in English class listened to because it was on the radio all the time. Um, I'm kind of losing track of my point. Basically, I knew what you meant, and it wasn't a big deal at all, and I still like Matchbox 20 and I don't mind that you don't.
It's weird, I feel like this should be an easy question for me. I mean, I have a whole mix CD of songs I'm ashamed of loving. But I can't really come up with anything, because I usually only like a couple songs by any one of those artists... It's not like I have to hide parts of my CD collection for fear of being laughed at. I mean, OK, I'll confess to really liking some songs by Britney Spears or N'Sync or Limp Bizkit, but I wouldn't say I "absolutely love love love" them. I guess I do get made fun of a lot for various stuff I listen to, though, because most of my friends are either all mainstream or all indy/folk...and I tend to like a little of everything. So, that was a very long-winded non-answer.
I dunno about "world's biggest"...I think we all do that sometimes. :)
Besides, when the criticism of your music was obviously directed at you. But you didn't have any intention of being offensive. And, y'know, they were insulting something you must have really liked, since you picked it for that assignment, whereas I just own a Matchbox 20 CD and enjoy listening to it occasionally. So I say you win. ETA: I think I just lost my chance at good FHDC drama. Oops. i don't really have one, but moxy fruvous comes the closest. i only know one person other then myself that likes them. whenever i mention them when im with eric & joe (my fellow band members) they say something condescending or some sort of 'bah!' or joke. all in good nature, of course.
hehehe . . oh yes I forgot to mention that Jim Carrey is another of my guilty pleasures.

Same here. the only other person i know that likes frvous is my friend dan. when i talk about them at all in front of my other friend sam, he'll always smirk/snort or something of that nature. then he tries to force his music (ciara, 50 cent, eminem) on me, which usually doesn't end well. although i don't force frvous on him, so he shouldn't complain. ;)
The same thing happened when I played the lads for a class project. Although I expected it, since most of my friends at the time listened to nothing beyond techno and J-Pop.
I remember comming home from a New Years party once and throwing in an EFO CD just becasue I needed something acoustic ;-)
What is that winky face supposed to mean? Are you implying something? Are you calling me dramatic?! OMG that is SO rude!!!
