Room Booked

   Discussion: Room Booked
hkath · 20 years, 2 months ago
I just talked to Sarah from the Comfort Suites, who was on vacation until today, and she's arranged basically the same thing we had last year. I go in to sign the contract and drop off the cheque on Monday, so it's pretty much a done deal.

So, details of the booking:

February 19, from 9-5
Mulock Room
Comfort Suites City Centre
200 Dundas St E (Dundas and Jarvis)
Toronto, ON

w00t! might we also want to get a large suite (possibly a 2-story?) for people to hang out in the evening, too? I think that worked out pretty well last year.
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
yes, please. with an orgy room. so we can not have sex in it.
hkath Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
It did. However, I personally have no way to book that. Last year John booked it, and I wrote him a cheque.
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
how did john book it? could one of us do it?
lawrence Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
I can book it, then. what price range should I stick to? it looks like I can get one 2-story room for $148US, but for an extra $15, I can get one with a heart shaped whirlpool tub. There's another for $186US that has two bedrooms, but I think the living room, where I'd imagine a lot of people would spend more time, is a pretty constant size.

.oO hot-tub! Oo.

that could make it interesting. ;)
hkath Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
OK, well then I'll get back to you on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. That's when I'll really find out how much money we have left to play around with.
A.J. Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
There should be enough money for that, no?
hkath Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
Well, sure, but I'd like to find out exactly how much we have before I sign any cheques, thanks.

Which reminds me, if someone decides to use the internet connection this year, can they please either make sure that it's included in the room, or else pay the hundred dollars it costs? Because that was a big shock last year.

I thought we hadn't used any internet connection, and that the hotel had made a mistake. That is, until Sab told me over the summer that she'd used someone's computer to check her email while in the suite.
lawrence Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
hundred dollars?! I thought 24 hours of connectivity was like ... $10.
A.J. Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
In the suite, Kath, or in the Mulock room? According to the web site internet connections in your room are 10 bucks a day. I could see how they might charge a lot more in a meeting room though.
hkath Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
I don't know which room it was for. All I know is that I wasn't able to prove it wasn't used, so I paid it.
A.J. Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
We need to make sure it is the 2 story one this time. John THOUGHT he'd booked the 2 story one, but it wound up being one story, so a note needs to be attached to the reservation stating that it MUST be a 2 story.
A.J. Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
I've got that room showing for $159.20 Canadian which is $129.14 US. Where are you looking?
lawrence Back · 20 years, 2 months ago
I don't see that one at all. but if you think it works, you can book it, too, just let's coordinate it so we a) don't spend too much money and b) don't end up with the entire 7th floor of the hotel. :)
lawrence Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
any updates on this?
hkath Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Yeah, I just finally signed the contracts today. Sorry, Sarah's been out sick parts of the week and I've been doing inventory and in meetings, so our schedules only just meshed today.

Everything's paid for, and she's even informed me they have a new VCR (I'll believe that when I see it).

So it's all cool. The way we did this last year was that John reserved the suite on his credit card and then I gave him a cheque at the Con... does that work for you?
lawrence Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Well, that will work for me if a) the amount I can be reimbursed is the same as the amount the room costs, and b) I can get the rate that AJ mentioned. I've apparently been looking at a different page, though, and if we can save money, we should.
hkath Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
a) well, *yeah*. b) I'll just write the cheque ;)

Remember, though, we want to be guaranteed a 2-storey suite. That's what we'd reserved last year and it didn't quite happen.
A.J. Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Well shit. The rate I saw before seems to have gone away. That or I was reading wrong and was looking at the non-2-level room. But I don't think so, because all the rates are a bit higher than what Lawrence said before, and I don't *think* the US dollar has fallen that far (or has it?).

Anyway the current promo rate I see for the one bedroom 2-level room is $207.20 Canadian, which is $171.43 US. What have you got now Lawrence? Let's go with which ever is lower.
A.J. · 20 years, 1 month ago
Ok so I reserved a 2-level room for Saturday night. FYI, Kath, the cost is 207.20 + tax. Who's bringing the massage oil? :)
hkath Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Perfect. And by the way, as usual, it turns out we have more money in the bank than I remembered. All is good.

And, not massage oil. Massage bars. From Lush. Baybee.
