Renn Fairs are all about eating food on a stick.

Maura Kennedy's brother, Gordon, does the Mud Show at the Maryland Renn Fair.

The fairs are a lot of fun if you go with the right person.
goovie is married! Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
yes.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
You are agreeing because you were a fun person I went with.

Which reminds me, another perk of Renn Fairs, people with fake British accents think Carey should marry me unless they are afraid that she'll kick them if they say that.

I started going to the PA Rennfaire in college and make a point to go once a year. I think it's either for the sweet yam sticks or potato fritters. :)

I also like the stands with the fun clothes and jewelry. Best window shopping w/o windows.

If you are going to the PA fair this year be sure to check out Bardic Wind. They are a Story telling song singing juggling and acrobatic trio. They are amazingly good and also happen to be old buddies/ roomates of mine. www.bardicwind .com

*joolee* Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
Ooh, definitely will. I'ma juggler myself and always try to find those at the Rennfaire.
Bender · 19 years, 9 months ago
I've always wanted to go.

Part of me is afraid that I'll get all nitpicky about historical costumes and I'll kill my own fun ;P
100% dainty! Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
yeah well the whole thing is a TOTAL walking anachronism that can't decide which time period/country it wants to be in. but it's fun!
Bender Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
I'd be even pickier than that, I fear.

"no no no, that neckline was italian! italian! and from two centuries later!!! italian, I say!"
100% dainty! Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
hahahahh! that would be so funny! you could say it in a british accent and everything

Heh...a friend of mine went to Medieval Times (I think that's what it was called) and came back infuriating because they served potatoes there.
:)
sheryls Back · 19 years, 9 months ago

they didnt have forks, but they had diet coke!

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
Po-Tay-Toes.

It always bugged me that middle earth had potatoes and tobacco. Middle Earth ws supposed to be the old world.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 9 months ago

that was supposed to be tobacco?

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
"...which they called pipe-weed or leaf, a variety probably of Nicotiana.

From the prologue section 2 Concerning Pipe-weed

Tolkien calls it "tobacco" in the next paragraph.
nate... Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
yeah... that's just to be PC. :)

sheryls · 19 years, 9 months ago
i used to go to the ones about ohio/michigan. i even had a full set of nice garb. but i dont go anymore, and i recently sold the garb (it was too big :/ the corset didnt cinch anymore!).

so i voted for I go, but mostly for the atmosphere, because if i did go, it would be for that.

..and stew in a breadbowl.
(omg stew).
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 19 years, 9 months ago
Jeremy and I are going to a renn faire this weekend. I won't dress up, but he will be wearing his 'sword'
lawrence · 19 years, 9 months ago
They're not really my thing, but I don't really like the wording of the first choice, either. I'm just pretty much indifferent to the idea.
hkath Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
I'm with you on that. They're completely outside my sphere of existence. They happen. I'm elsewhere. Meh.
nate... Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
yeah, exactly....

It's just silliness that I don't engage in. I have far more important silliness.

Annika · 19 years, 9 months ago
I am alone in my needing to be dragged.
The renn-fair I went to it was hot, the people I went with were arguing, and it didn't seem like anything was really going on except people were dressed up in costumes.
Tori Rose · 19 years, 9 months ago
I. Love. Ren-faires.

LOVE THEM.

Turkey Drumsticks, desserts on a stick... not to mention the guy who runs around with a big barrel selling pickels. I havent been in so long... I need a fix.
Snarki_Fru · 19 years, 9 months ago
i voted "still 1425" but in truth its actually 1590, and I'm not in England I'm in Italy...

SCA is more fun... less spectator, more inclusive. last time i went to a fair with SCA friends we got "yelled at" because we were upstaging the performers... *snort*
dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
i haven't been to a ren faire in years & years, but i used to own garb & my sister & brother in law are sca.
Abby I'm a civilian yay! · 19 years, 9 months ago
Ok so I'm part of the SCA, and my house is the conclave of evil, its alot of fun, especially after all the foreigners leave for the day, we have bonfires at night and drink our hearts out!
The perfect time, and I get to boost my boobs up with a corset, yeah!
stealthlori · 19 years, 9 months ago
I've never been to a renn faire, although I've wanted to go for quite awhile ... just haven't found a free weekend in summer/early fall these past few years. (imagine that.) So I can't even vote in the poll.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
That's it, this year I'm going to a Renn Fair with you!
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
yay!

Gordon: facilitator of cultural opportunity for the backward ...

If I weren't an atheist I'd be a missionary.
