So I'm reading this book called Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever which is written by two doctors who seriously believe that the potential to live forever will exist within our lifetimes. And, according to them, not only will life expetancy improve exponetially, but it will be possible to stop and even reverse the aging process. As they describe it, this will happen in stages, which they call bridges; the first bridge is about doing what we can today to stay healthy enough to live until the next bridge, the biotechnology revolution, which will lead to the nanotechnology revolution whilch will actually enable us to rebuild our bodies at the molecular level. So, what do you think? Does this sound more excitiing or more scary?
I barely want to live on any given day as it is. I'm quite content to not have an extended lifespan.
I would love that idea...to live forever...then we could really start developing deep space tech and start exploring the universe....

Really it just goes to the instinctual fear of dying and not knowing what is awaiting us when we pass this mortal realm. Who's to say it's better, but then again, who's to say it's worse? But when man starts playing god in such a way as to deny the universe the constant of death, surely that would not end well. I'm not keen on the idea of dying myself, but who am I to defy every other soul that has passed on. Hell, I could even have be in one of many reincarnations.
indeed, but different people have different beliefs, I for one have an odd belief in alternate realities myself. which is a little bit odd to explain.
