Any songs that feel like fall or winter? Post them here.

Anything by Loreena McKennitt or October Project: Fall

"Birches" by Bill Morrissey: Winter

Good taste. I don't think I ever heard another fruhead talk about Loreena or Bill Morrissey. Birches is an amazing song.

oh dude I grew up on WXPN and all the seasoned folkies. I am in love with "Birches." :)

I love the imagery in the first stanza of BNL's song You Will Be Waiting (from Maybe You Should Drive). It's perfectly complimented by the music that backs it.

I concur.

We've Been Had - The Walkmen

Good for rainy days in your college room alone studying and wishing there was someone around to study with and kiss sometimes.

December - George Winston

that's all I ever listen to during the winter

Autumn in New York - Billie Holiday
I also get all warm and wintery inside when I hear songs with bells on, which makes me a sucker for pop artists who cash in on Christmas. I also think of December when I hear "Last Christmas" by Wham as last year the house opposite mine played it all month long at high volume.

"I Got my Love to Keep me Warm" is another Winter song but I have more stored in my head...need to go think about Advanced Moral Philosophy though...

Almost anything from Nickle Creek. They're a very fallish band.

Same with Goody's album "Accidentials of the West".

Also everything on "Wood"

Peter Mulvey - "Shirt", "November"

Dan Bern - "Thanksgiving Day Parade"

Greg Brown - "64 Dodge"

You forgot FOW - "Valley Winter Song."

Unless somebody else already said it and I just kinda didn't notice.

Have I mentioned before that I shouldn't be allowed to communicate on Thursdays?

"Home To Me" reminds me a lot of fall.

Two country songs jump out as me as fall/winter:
Clint Black - "A Change In The Air" (Fall)
Garth Brooks - "Belleau Wood" (Winter)

And... Of course at the moment I'm drawing a blank on any other then those two, that jumped to mind because I figure no one else would've brought them up, they being Country and I being of the opinion that Country listeners are a minority 'round these here parts. ;-)

Maybe more later - I've been planning on reorganizing my music soon anyway, I might dredge up something I've forgotten then.

Carbon Leaf has an entire album called Indian Summer -- it's not so much about fall as it is about... well, quoth the lead singer, Barry Privett:

"Much of it's about relationships, and the place between moving on or wallowing in the past, or where you're at the end of something and the start of something new. There are some bittersweet moments."

Fall:

Lynn Miles - "You're Not Coming Back"

Hawksley Workman - Autumn's Here

Winter:

Dar Williams - February

Gordon Lightfoot - Song for a Winter's Night

I love season-specific songs :)
