Do you go to "shows" ever? You know, little gatherings

Discussion: Do you go to "shows" ever? You know, little gatherings

I define a "show" as a small club or indie band thing. I used to roll my eyes at "teh show kids" from MOC, but I did get involved this summer and met some great people.

Are any of you into the indie "scene?" Retch. I don't like the politics, because I am a loner, but it's fun.

Anyone else with me?

Jody

it's pretty much all I go to... but it's not even remotely a "scene" thing here.

There are just a ton of good local musicians, and small clubs... I'm not a fan of seeing bands at anything larger than the iron horse if I can help it.

here, here.

It might be my ADD, it might be something else, but I often get bored and distracted in bigger venues.

Agreed...I love small venues...particularly places in NYC such as Joe's Pub, Fez, and the Postcrypt (which seats like 30 people).

I can tolerate venues as large as performing arts theaters and ballroom spaces and on very rare occasions will I go to an arena show. But most of the concerts I go to are at nice intimate spaces where I can see acts without having to squint.

I'm more into the improv/comedy/fringe/etc. scene here, but I'm not one to pass up a good show.

I was going to ask if there really was a South Jersey improv scene, because I remember reading that you are from not too far from me. Then I rechecked your info, and your location is now Toronto, and I find an improv scene in Toronto to be a lot more plausible. Actually, I know there is one. Yeah, this was pointless. {g}

the scene here is excellent.

yay.

Indie rock is a big pleasure in my book. There's only a couple bands worth seeing locally, so I live through CDs.

I miss Missoula MT's indie rock scene... getting all the underground Olympia bands! *jealous*
Jody · 20 years, 4 months ago
There's an Iron Horse in Missoula MT but I know you are speaking of a different place. Heh. Coolness.

The reply button is your friend. It allows everyone to follow the threads more easily. We always point out the reply button to new people because we assume that they will take the gentle reminders gracefully and learn the etiquette of the forum and put it into practice. It is not an unreasonable assumption to make of a reasonably intelligent human being.

Fruhead.com: so polite and logical, no one can disagree or refuse to comply. PWNED by politeness.
Bender Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
it's more like avoiding unecessary annoyance and keeping threads readable.

It makes the threads threads. Imagine if I hadn't hit the reply button and I just said. "I totally agree." This would appear at the bottom of the page and nobody would know what statement I agreed with. OOO, I can illustrate the possible problems.

Miss Scarlet - DrWhoFru Is a creep:
Colonel Mustard - No he isn't, he's a prince among men
Mrs Peacock - Are you nuts? He's wanted in 5 states and two provinces

Mrs. White - I totally agree?

Who did Mrs White agree with? you can't tell.
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 4 months ago
Maybe it's moot because it doesn't seem like Mrs. White is even sure she agrees. :)
