Poll: If money was no object would you ride on the first commercial flight into space? |

If money was no object would you ride on the first commercial flight into space?
No. He is an inexhaustible font of poll ideas, so why should we?
Yeah, I would wait a bit...perhaps the third or fourth one in case the first few blow up into a ball of fire or something. What can I say, I'm a bit apprehensive of new technology that could potentially hurtle you to your death. :P
I wouldn't want ot be on the first one, not because of safety fears, but I just don't think I'd enjoy the trip with the company I'd likely be keeping made up of twits for whom money is no object. :) I'd wanna wait until all the cool geeks who scrimped and saved to live a dream get tickets. :) Heheh I know that's a stupid reason, it's just as soon as I read the poll I thought of all the rich showoff assholes who would probably be jostling to be on the first flight. And I just wouldn't enjoy the experience as much.
Hrm.. that's a very interesting point...
Since the cost would be prohibitive, though, I was kinda taking this "money was no object" thing as "you are offerred free tickets"... so I was like, "hell yeah! I wouldn't turn them down!" Especially since I know there's probably no way I could afford it otherwise.
See, and I took "money is no object" to mean that I myself was rich enough to afford it and could choose my own time. :)
depends. I'm going to Puerto Rico in december in bidness class on continental for less than I paid to go last year same time on American in coach.

I'll go, who wants to pay for my ticket?
I just had a thought, think of how many frequent flyer miles you can rack up when they get them going into orbit.

... until the hoopla died down a bit and I could take a flight without having to dodge the press or the fangeek crowd. :D
(This incidentally is the same reason I don't go to movies the first weekend they're out, or stand in line at midnight for Harry Potter book releases.) I hate hoopla. I recently broke rank and actually got the Shrek2 DVD the first day it came out, but that's only because I had it on reserve. Sometimes, if something has too much hoopla surrounding it, I'll make a point to ignore it for a long time, just to show how cool I am that I don't need to succumb to it's influence. There are still movies from last year that I wanted to see last year that I haven't seen yet because of all the hype. I wouldn't want to go on the space flight unless maybe it was a routine thing, and maybe not even then, just to be the rare person notto have done it.
If someone handed me an agenda and said to show up at this time and place, I would be there.
