Poll: What's your favorite Beatles era?

there are some gems among the earlier material, but mostly it drives me nuts. but pretty much everything from 1964-1967 was sheer brilliance. and the later stuff I could mostly take or leave. again, flashes of the once brilliant Beatles, but a lot of throwaway tracks, too.

What are the boundaries? I said late but I guess what I like best is the end of the middle and the beginning of the late, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, and the White Album.

i said middle, because i figured rubber soul and revolver fell in there. those two and sgt pepper are brilliant all the way thru; later beatles had more throwaway nonsense.

that's definitely middle. The White Album is late, but it's the very beginning of late...a period mostly defined by the stuff surrounding let it be and abby road...after the mishmash on the white album that resulted from their attempt to produce an album without a producer.

I like middle to late best. It really depends on my mood. Whether I want to be bouncy and singing along or if I want to relax and drink in music. I rarely listen to early. Most of it doesn't excite me, with some exceptions.

Speaking of the Beatles.� Is it sick that every time I pass the vending machine and see the Hanover preztels I can't stop "Even the royal house of Hanover had the wheel" from flitting through my head?

Topic-- I would say I'm mostly a middle period fan.� It depends on my mood though.� Overall, my favorites are Revolver and Rubber Soul.� I like a good number of the tracks on the white album-- but it does have a lot of filler. Same with Abbey Road

I'm not that big of a fan of the early albums, but I do really like Live at the BBC.

I have to be in the right shiny happy psychedelic mood to listen to Sgt Pepper.� It's not one I play a lot.� I mean it's great, but I'm usually more in the mood for Rubber Soul.

Historicaly I love the early days in Hamburg, Germany and Liverpool. Not because of Pete but because of Stu.

Heh...listening to NPR on the way to work today they were mapping the founding father types to the beatles. Jefferson is Paul, Hamilton was John, Madison was George, and Franklin was Ringo. (Their reasons for the mappings were actually clever :) ) And Washington was Elvis because he "couldn't be put in a quartet". I think they shoulda put him as George Martin or something. :)

So, I walked by a plaza on 6th Avenue today, and "Beatlemania Now" were playing! They were great! The first set was early tunes, and the second set was middle-era. No one else was dancing, but I just had to ... so now I'm "the lady who was dancing" and was officially thanked by the MC.

(I myself voted for Late, but that's just because of Abbey Road and how much it blows my mind, but that would've been silly in the live quartet format. As it was, Eleanor Rigby was a stretch.)
