Well...I don't like the movie, for one. I know that's not the point of it all though. It just all seems to over the top and tasteless. Which, I know is part of the intention. :) I don't know, it just turns me off. I do like audience participation in general (I loved that aspect of Fruvous shows) it's just this particular culture isn't for me. I fully admit that's more about me than it is about them. :)

I've had many friends who are big fans and participators who have described the experience to me. From descriptions it doesn't seem like something I'd enjoy. It's not like a bunch of people were trashing it and I'm all "dude, totally, yeah, that sucks!" If my friends' descriptions had held interest for me I would have tried it out.

Maybe it's wrong of me but I'm not going to go out of my way to experience something that by all accounts I've heard has nothing to offer me that I want. It's like saying I have no right to say I wouldn't like a certain salmon dish if others had told me it tastes like fish and I hate fish. Why would I want to try?

I don't feel like I'm losing a thing by not trying the experience. And y'all are *certainly* not missing out on anything by not having me there, so what does it matter? I readily admitted above it was more about me than the participants themselves. Originally all I even wanted to say was that it didn't interest me. I only expounded on why once Gordon asked.

If I read 10 reviews of "Dude, Where's My Car" that point out nothing but things I wouldn't enjoy, why should I then go see it? What's wrong with my saying I'm not interested in it based on what these reviews state? I never say "it is bad and therefore I won't go". I say the information I have been presented with has not held interest for me. Even when I said "over the top and tasteless", which I'll admit is on the judgemental side, I at least said "seems" and was not stating it as a fact independent of my own preferences and filters.

I'm not "knocking it" as an absolute. I'm not saying it has no benefit and it sucks and y'all are idiots for liking it. All I'm saying is the reviews/descriptions I have been provided with (from people who LIKE it, even) have inspired no desire or interest in me to experience it.�

One can't go blind into every experience, shell out money to support it, and only then have the right to decide if it's for them. You cull preliminary data from sources you trust and then decide if you have an interest. I am not deciding that I do or do not like the RHPS experience. I'm deciding that based on preliminary information I have no desire to delve further. I'm having trouble seeing why that's wrong.

It's obviously a wonderful experience for many people. All I'm saying is I, personally, don't think it would be my cup of tea and I, personally, have no desire to give it a shot. I have no expectation that my decision and desire has any bearing on what anybody else feels or decides.

you have the right to your own opinion.� if your opinion is based off of what others tell you, more power to you.� i think you are taking this a few steps further than you need to and, imho, you need to calm down.

There is also a cast, the Blue Mouseketeers, in Tacoma. Their show is the third Saturday of every month at the Blue Mouse Theatre on Proctor.

And a cast in Portland, the Clinton Street Cabaret. (I bet you can guess what street their theatre is on.) I belive they have a show every Saturday and sometimes have guest casts perform. Ah...the Clinton! So many Saturday nights spent there in high school.

I went a few times in college. Never really got into all the theatrics/audience participation, but we used to play the soundtrack a LOT. For some bizarre reason my mother bought us the video one year as an anniversary present (w. t. F??????) so we occasionally watch it Halloween night at home.

It is early in the voiting but I'm suprised that less that half the people have seen it. He'll I haven't seen it in 20 years but I've seen it six times. Jill and I listened to the soundtrack and compared how the audience dialogue has changed in that time on the way home from the Fru-B-Que. I actually know a great deal of the lyrics. That was before my brain went south.

I was going to last year but I wasn't 18 (and I'm still not 18) so I couldn't. Its very sad because I really really want to see it.

Umm... Where do you have to be 18 to see RHPS? Seems to me, most times that I've gone, most of the audience (and some of the cast) were younger than 18...

shoot...i've seen it more than 200 times...if you count all of the times i've performed in it as well. but since the movie is playing while we perform, i think it counts. :)

and yes, i feel it is very, very sad that the majority that have taken this poll are still virgins.

oh god, that's probably the same movie they showed at CMU one year. with the glasses and everything. and they got the usual complaints from the conservative groups saying their activities fee money shouldn't pay for it (never mind the fact that the rest of our activities fee money funds said conservative groups, too) but it turned out that the movie cost them $100 to rent and they sold out 4 showings of 475 seats at $1 a ticket.

I think we got the same one at Northwestern as well, only ours ended up in riots when it sold out and they stopped letting people in.

I suffered through the movie once on video. I see no reason to subject myself to it again.

it is a horrible movie. most cult classics are.

but it really is completely different seeing it in the theatre with the actors, call backs, etc. you haven't really experienced the movie until you've gone to the threatre to see it.

I know a lot of people who participated in it when I was in college. And from everything they told me about it, I became even less interested in even considering going.

I've always done Magenta (in our living room production), but I have a fondness for Columbia. And Riff-Raff. But I really don't like female Franks, even though I love the role. And our Riff, too ;P

Some of the best Franks I've seen have been female.� Our last Frank, who is also female, has won contests at conventions for being such a rockin' Frank. My best friend is our Frank and used to be our Columbia.� :)

Hahaha... for REAL!!!� Well, it's never too late.... 7/17, Down the Line's playing at one of those friggin' street festivals (I never remember which one is which but they're ALL by an el or bus) they're playing from 3-5 in the afternoon.� That would be a nice place to converge.� Of course I have to get a train back home to see another show that night... but it's an idea :):):):)� Otherwise... we can keep trying!!!! *hugs*
