I have an almost 6-hour layover in Newark, Sunday June 13th. Supposedly landing at 6:06am and taking off again at 11:50am.

Now then. I realize its a Sunday morning and a lot of people like to sleep in :) I'd just really appreciate it if someone(s) would be willing to come hang out for awhile and keep me company :)

please? :)

Care to tell me what Terminal/Gate you'll be coming in so that if I come I'll know where to find you?
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
I have -no- idea. the info I have doesn't say.
dave "buh" Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Post your arriving/departing flight no's and we can lookup the gates.
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Arrival: CO1280 (6:06a)

Departure: CO3276 (11:50a)

dave "buh" Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
CO1280, Seattle - Newark, scheduled to arrive today at Term C, Gate 96

CO3276, Newark-Rochester scheduled to depart today from Term C, Gate 88.

So definitely Terminal C, they usually try to run the gate schedules the same every day but you never know.

...my second flight doesn't go to Rochester though. It goes to Quebec.
dave "buh" Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Sorry I read the chart wrong, that flight COMES from Rochester. Then goes to Quebec. Same gate though (C88 today).

Sounds good. I'll come and make the visit. All I have to do myself is take a train.
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Thank you!

...umm.. where do we meet and stuff? and time?

John J. Ryan Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
You're in Terminal C. I can meet you at 7 AM. Where in the terminal I don't know, I'm not completely familiar with it to arrange for a meeting spot. I guess outside the set of gates you'll be coming from? (The flight FROM Seattle)
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
sounds good!
John J. Ryan Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
This is just to confirm that we are meeting at Terminal C outside the collection of gates that you will be exiting coming FROM your flight FROM to Seattle at 7 AM. You'll have to go past the security checkpoint outbound to meet me, but you'll probably notice lots of other people waiting for their friends as well where I am. See you at 7!
nitsita Back · 20 years, 8 months ago

whee!

you know me.. but just incase..I should be wearing a grey hoody with a big CDN stamped in the front, and a bright yellow messenger bag. and I've got red hair.

dave "buh" · 20 years, 9 months ago
but don't forget, you'll have to exit security and then go back through in order to do any socializin' at the airport-- so allow the time. Your guest(s) won't be able to come back to the gates.
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
yeah I know. ::shurg:: I've done it before..

With Me :-)

I'd do it again if it weren't so early or I was closer to Newark.

One think I thought of is you might want to take the NJ Transit train to New York, it is something like a 15 minute ride.
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Heh. I leave Seattle at 10:30 pacific. I'll land at what will be 3 am internal clock, and not coherent enough to navigate the transit :)
Joe Navratil · 20 years, 9 months ago
I'm gonna miss your layover in Newark by 24 hours.

I've got a three-hour layover (from 6am to 9am) at Newark on Saturday :-)
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Nooooooo!

t'woulda been so cool to see you :)

Joe Navratil Back · 20 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, it would've been nice, but I'm sure I'm not going to be the most interesting person to be around after a red-eye from San Jose.

I'm not sure exactly why I've got a layover in Newark on my way from California to Ohio, except that the tickets were cheap and my arrival time was decent :-)

Where're you headed, nitsa?
nitsita Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

Back to Quebec City, from Seattle.

Ack.

since i made the itinerary i know what the situation is..

i am not entirely certain that the flight from newark to QC is the earliest flight going into QC.. one thing to do is that when you go into the airport (either in seattle or in newark) is to check with a gate agent and ask them if there is room on an earlier flight. typically there is, if it isn't sold out. you may have to sit in a middle seat (although some flights are very not sold out and you sit in the ass of the plane) but usually, the gate agents will have no issues with putting you on the plane (i've never had any issues with taking an earlier flight if i am flying later the same day). not knowing the flight schedule, that may be the only flight to QC (i doubt it) ... of course, if you schedule to meet someone in newark, you'll probably want to layover that long..

nevermind.. i just checked the flight schedule (the internet is handy) and the 11:50 is the earliest flight on continental to Quebec city..

you know you could forgo the long layover and just stay in seattle.

;)
